Job Description
We are seeking motivated individuals with an Engineering degree to join our team as Distribution Engineers and Technicians. This role is centered on Distribution projects and offers the opportunity to train under two advanced-level Distribution Engineers. The position involves performing engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. It also requires the preparation of forestry trimming requests, facilitation of permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, development of a Bill of Materials (BOM), and cost estimation. The role is primarily focused on design development and coordination, with fieldwork constituting a smaller portion of the responsibilities.
ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, guying, and cable pulling.Analyze electric demand, fault currents, and coordinate protective devices.Prepare requests for forestry trimming and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition.Develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) and estimate project costs.Focus on design development and coordination, spending 90% of the time on these tasks.Conduct fieldwork occasionally after several months on the job.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.0+ years of experience.Proficiency in AutoCAD.Knowledge of power distribution.Teamwork and leadership skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompleted ABET-accredited 4-year Engineering Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical.Passion and interest in Power Utilities and Distribution.Experience with CAD Design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, MicroStation, Inventor, MATLAB, etc.Valid Driver's License.Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position located in Durham, North Carolina. The office environment includes a mix of Designers, Engineers, and Design Technicians working collaboratively on distribution projects. The work setting promotes teamwork and involves group work on various projects. The role is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 months. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.81 - $29.81/hr.
