Distribution Engineer

A Day in the LifeYou will join the Heerlen 3 support team. This team’s main focus is on delivering support to the daily logistical operations within the Medtronic Heerlen 3 Distribution Centre. Next to this there are also potential opportunities in supporting regional DC’s. In this role there will be a strong focus on standardization, simplification, and continuous improvement projects. In your day-to-day job, you will be focused on detecting issues and gaps and providing solutions within the distribution center, with focus area on inbound and outbound logistics process flows.

You will look for opportunities to embrace innovations to enhance our processes and systems through process flow enhancement, automation, and data mining. We support and aim to become a Best-in-Class Operation. For this position, you will need to be based in the surrounding area of Heerlen.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Designs processes, procedures, and layouts for logistical operations, including equipment installation and material handling.Designs the arrangement of logistical systems within the distribution center to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.Designs sequences of operations and specify procedures for various logistical processes.Inspects the performance of logistical systems and tools to verify their efficiency and initiates corrective actions to ensure operational quality.Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and logistic techniques.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within the logistics field, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.Requires a Bachelor degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)).Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.Experience with Labour Management Systems (LMS) and knowledge of the MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) system, combined with data and artificial intelligence application, is preferable.Be based in the Netherlands, ideally living in Heerlen or willing to travel to Heerlen to go to the office.
