A Day in the life:

You will set the standard for leadership within our facility, leading by example and ensuring that our organizational culture—based on Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement—is upheld. As the Distribution Center Manager at ThermoFisher Scientific, you will lead and manage all activities of the supervisors with a focus on lean, process improvement, and transformation.

Core Responsibilities

Driving process improvement through three key areas: Automation, Systems, and the Lean methodologyEvaluating and implementing material flow improvements and finding opportunities to remove waste from the processResolving problems that prevent timely and efficient handling of ordersParticipating in the hiring process and recommending candidates for hireTraining, developing, and mentoring staff while promoting employee development, creativity, and two-way communicationCoordinating cross-training and execution planning of all distribution center colleaguesAssuming supervisory duties in the event of an absenceEnsuring all policies and procedures are followed accurately and efficientlyEnsuring compliance with State, DEA, ATF, and OSHA regulationsMaintaining compliance with regulatory and operational proceduresWorking directly with the Regional Operations Manager to meet P&L goals and objectivesThink and act with a customer-centric approach to deliver exceptional customer experiencesPrioritizing customer requirements and being dedicated to meeting or exceeding customer expectations

To be successful in this role, you will need

Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Manhattan experience is preferredKnowledge of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes, and familiarity with different material handling equipmentExperience with warehouse automation systems (e.g., MHE, conveyance, automated storage and retrieval systems)Proven understanding of operational safety and health requirements (EHS)Current knowledge of regulatory requirements including DOT and HAZMAT

Education:

A High School Diploma or equivalent experience (bachelor’s degree in Business), Supply Chain, or a related field preferred) or an equivalent combination of experience and educationExperience

A minimum of 5 years of dynamic management experience in a distribution or manufacturing operations environmentProven track record of continuous improvement implementations using methodologies such as Lean, Kaizen, and 6 SigmaExperience opening new facilities is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Limited travel is requiredAbility to lift 50 lbs.Ability to work in a warehouse environment without air conditioning in the summerMust be able to perform the supervisor’s and other jobs in the warehouse when team members are absent
