Job Title: Dispatcher
Job Description

The Dispatcher plays a crucial role in dispatching units to pick up and deliver freight, monitoring driver performance, and ensuring customer timelines are met. The role focuses on optimizing load management and ensuring on-time service to all customers and terminals through efficient utilization of trailer banks, including Dry Vans and Long Combination Vehicles.

ResponsibilitiesArrange daily deliveries, assign pickup requests, and enter orders in the computer system.Set up appointment freight, manifest shipments, coordinate ETAs with Central, check for expedited shipments, and enter missed pickups.Answer phones and take pickup requests.Perform dock and yard checks to ensure freight is not missed and trucks are on schedule.Coordinate drivers for a second round of deliveries, manifest skeleton, and make linehaul orders.Coordinate local P&D requirements.Track lumpers' hours and review requirements.Monitor driver performance and report findings to the manager.Identify areas for improvement and efficiencies.Essential Skills2+ years of LTL dispatching experience.Knowledge of the Calgary area.Experience in transportation.Experience with warehouse management software or web-based programs.Ability to work independently; a self-starter.Additional Skills & QualificationsSecondary education with a preference in logistics management or supply chain.Experience with TruckMate.Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement proactive solutions.Work Environment

This role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The work environment involves managing transportation logistics and requires effective communication and coordination with drivers and co-workers to meet operational demands and efficiencies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $24.50/hr.
