Superior Ambulance Service
History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 3,000 licensed EMT, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin with over 55 locations. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.
EMTs and Paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides the highest quality care in emergencies and scheduled medical transports.
Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Dispatcher consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Be extremely knowledgeable in service areaGive appropriate ETA’s while accounting for type and level of response, traffic patterns, and weather conditionsPrioritize request for ambulance serviceCommunicate issues to marketing, management, and customers as necessaryAssist EMT’s and Paramedics with directions as necessaryAlways maintain appropriate status of crewsOversee function of Assistant DispatcherDelegate additional responsibilities to assistant as necessaryAssist in receiving and entering in request for ambulance or Medi-Car service as necessaryCommunicate patient diversions and keep all appropriate associated recordsMaintain status records and give appropriate ETAs for Critical Care Transport as necessaryOther duties as assigned

Map reading skillsProblem solving skillsMulti-tasking abilityEffective communication skillsPrevious EMS knowledge requiredEMD licensePhysical Demands:While performing the duties of the position, the employee is required to sit for long periods of time. Employee will be required to listen to continuous radio traffic, communicate over the radio and telephone consistently, and ability to type is required.Employee should be able to work under stressful conditions.Work Environment:While performing the duties of the job, the employee has verbal contact with others and constantly works face to face with and around others.Consistently uses office equipment such as computers, radios, printers, fax machine, etc.
