The Utility Worker, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Dining or his or her designee, is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas and that all cooking and dining implements meet or exceed standards set by the Health Department and other regulatory agencies.

PAY

Pay rate for this position starts at $15.50/hr. and is commensurate with experience.

HOURS

This position would work 12pm-8:30pm. Rotating weekends would be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Washes and sanitizes all dishes, pots, pans and food preparation equipmentEmpties kitchen garbage/trash and sanitizes containers as neededSweeps, mops and foams kitchen floor, refrigerator/freezer and storeroom as assignedAssists putting away deliveries as neededMaintains cleanliness of all walls in kitchen and serving line areaPerforms regular cleaning of heavy kitchen equipmentAssists in moving heavy equipment and furniture when neededMay transport linens, equipment, and foods between the Health & Rehabilitation Center and the Landing Building kitchensMaintains positive interaction with residents, guests, and other Williamsburg Landing employeesPerforms other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 16 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior relevant work experience preferred; must obtain a Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of employment; if transporting goods and materials, must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to read, write, speak, and follow verbal and written directions; ability to maintain sanitation standards in dish room area; ability to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds; ability to stand and walk for a full shift (8 hours); ability to withstand temperature extremes and humidity
