Discipline Manager (Functional Engineering Manager)

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Discipline Manager, you are accountable for:

Contribute and support the Engineering Manager in building a clear vision and direction for Engineering initiatives and communicate to the teamContribute to the Systems, Infrastructure and Speciality Engineering Discipline GovernanceDefine and tailor discipline practices (process and tools)Ensure the capitalization and sharing of knowledgeContribute to the discipline efficiency plan to increase business competitivenessPromote adoption of new technologiesBe responsible for the engineering discipline cost model definition and updatesAssess skills required for current and future projects needs including future discipline trendsDevelopment/upskilling of the team and career managementConduct strategic workforce planning including the provision of resources to fulfil current and future bid and project needsRoll-out Make Team Buy strategy for the forecasted workload (incoming activities)Define and Manage Hiring strategy and recruitment, onboardingFoster collaboration with other disciplines to define multi-discipline solutions with added valueFoster an innovation and entrepreneurship culture


KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, IT or related disciplinePostgraduate studies in Systems Engineering (Desirable)

Essential Experience

Proven experience in Systems Engineering lifecycle management (10+ years) including; Requirements, Design, Integration and Verification and ValidationProven experience in the development of products and projects in a variety of methodologies, with a particular focus on iterative/agile developmentProven experience (5+ years) in managing and coaching staffDemonstrated ability to achieve effective outcomes in a multidiscipline, multi-culture environmentExperience with Safety, Security and Human Factors standards and practicesExperience with Infrastructure design processesExperience with Network design and deployment processesAbility to develop and promote high performing teamsDevelop and foster a culture of continuous improvementCoaching and sharing of his/her know-howAbility to engage senior stakeholders having different objectivesAccountability, transparency and curiosityA positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.An ability to successfully manage changeComfort in facing and managing complexitySound judgement and independent decision-making capability where necessaryExcellent written and oral communication skills in English

Desirable:

Good knowledge of Air Traffic Management systems
