Disability Services Advocate
The Katz JCC, a vibrant non-profit community center, seeks a part time Disability Services Advocate This position will act as the main direct on-site Advocate for inclusive support in all JCC departments (fitness, wellness, adult, youth and family, and teen.) This will allow inclusive opportunities for JCC members for all the programs and services the building has to offer. Primary Responsibilities + Foster inclusion and cultivate relationships with individuals and provide on-going support with appropriate follow-up + Facilitate individuals into a program to the maximum degree of involvement possible. + Adapt activities, as needed, to allow active participation + Work collaboratively with other Disability Services personnel, including Weinberg Commons, to coordinate and maximize opportunities for members. + Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members, JCC and system-wide colleagues + Participate in agency and Disability Services committee meetings, as assigned. + Attend work-related meetings, conferences, educational and training opportunities, and seminars. + Administrative support to JCC Disability Services + Program Evaluation when applicable + Other duties as assigned Qualifications: High School degree. Some college and/or working towards a degree in special education, disability services, OT, PT or speech. Flexible and adaptable, able to shift efficiently between diverse tasks without compromising effectiveness or composure. • Communicates ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. • A proven ability to assess situations and identify appropriate solutions. • Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team setting. • Able to understand and follow both oral and written instructions. • Possesses the ability to negotiate, mediate, and resolve conflicts between opposing parties. • Maintain positive attitude EEO Statement: The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, and our family of agencies, is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
