**Job Overview:**
The Director – Global Subcontracts Management is the global discipline lead for subcontracts management within McDermott. The position sits with a solid reporting line into the Global Supply Chain Management function, and with matrix/functional oversight of subcontracts management in all Business Lines.
This is a senior-level leadership position, primarily responsible for global alignment, improvement, and oversight of subcontract management processes within McDermott’s matrix organization. The role also involves building and maintaining strategic relationships with global subcontractors, i.e. subcontractors that McDermott has an engagement with across multiple business lines and/or geographies.
This role provides subject matter expertise, strategic support and training to subcontracts management personnel within business lines and project teams. It plays a key role in advancing subcontractor engagement practices, managing 3 rd party estimating tools (such as the Blue Book program), and supporting internal and external audit readiness.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
+ Subcontract Process Ownership
+ Serve as the global process owner for subcontract management
+ Drive subcontracts management consistency, alignment, and best practice adoption across project and regional teams
+ Collaborate with Legal, SCM, Ethics & Compliance, Sustainability, QHSE and functional stakeholders to update standard contract terms in response to legal or policy changes
+ Blue Book Program Oversight
+ Maintain and enhance the Blue Book unit rate estimating framework
+ Lead development, publication, and training of associated bills of material and preambles
+ Expand program adoption globally and ensure consistent application
+ Training & Capability Building
+ Support subcontract training initiatives across business lines and regions
+ Serve as mentor and resource to subcontract administrators and execution teams.
+ Audit & Compliance Support
+ Support internal and external audits (including ISO or customer-specific audits) involving subcontract processes
+ Represent SCM in audit discussions and advocate for the business line
+ Help establish and monitor business line self-audit programs to drive accountability
+ Commercial Risk Mitigation
+ Collaborate with projects to identify subcontract risks and drive early intervention and continual improvement
+ Where needed engage directly with subcontractors as needed to resolve complex or high-risk issues
+ Support back charge recovery and bank guarantee programs and advocate for company cost protections
+ Propose innovative strategies to limit exposure to frivolous or non-meritorious claims
+ Key Success Metrics
+ Building and maintaining strategic relationships with global subcontractors, to facilitate rate optimization, conflict resolution, etc
+ Reduction in subcontract-related claims and change orders
+ Improved audit outcomes (internal and external)
+ Increased adoption and accuracy of the Blue Book estimating process
+ Business line satisfaction and engagement with subcontract support
+ Timely implementation of contract template updates and training initiatives
**Essential Qualifications and Education:**
+ 10+ years of experience in subcontract management, or other discipline(s) with transferrable skills, preferably within EPC or fabrication environments
+ Prior experience in complex project execution, ideally across international settings
+ Strong understanding of contract language, risk management, and change order control
+ Hands-on experience with rate-based pricing models is a plus
+ Excellent interpersonal and influence skills; able to work effectively across cultures and business units. Strong written and verbal English skills
+ Proficient in systems such as Oracle, SharePoint, Power BI, and SMAT
