Director, Strategy 

ADP is searching for a Director of Portfolio Strategy and Operations to join our Product Management and AI organization, supporting our Small Business portfolio of products. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to defining and helping execute product strategy as well as operational best practices for our product management team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (product and development, business operations, strategy, sales and finance) to identify market trends, customer needs, competitive landscape, and technology advancements (e.g., AI / GenAI) to drive product innovation and growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Owner and as a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of this important portfolio for ADP. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Strategic Planning: 

Lead the annual planning cycle for the Small Business product portfolio  Lead product initiative prioritization and tradeoffs 

Product Management Operations: 

Serve as a thought leader to drive further advancement of our product management practices   Lead preparation for Product Reviews, including OKR, delivery milestone and budget tracking  Lead processes for stakeholder updates and engagement opportunities  Develop executive reporting for c-suite and board-level audiences 

Strategic Program Management: 

Assess market trends, usage analytics, and competitor moves to inform strategy & priorities   Lead ongoing analysis to help maximize ROI on product investments  Help enable high-impact strategic initiatives 

KEY SKILLS 

Strategic & Financial Acumen – Skilled in developing data-driven strategies, evaluating product ROI, building business cases, and interpreting financial performance to guide investment decisions  Product Portfolio & Operational Excellence – Experienced in managing product portfolios, optimizing planning, and driving continuous improvement via scalable frameworks (e.g., OKRs)  Executive Communication & Stakeholder Influence – Strong ability to craft compelling narratives and presentations for executive and board-level audiences, with a track record of aligning cross-functional teams in matrixed environments  Innovation & Tech Fluency – Familiar with emerging technologies including AI/GenAI, with the ability to translate technical trends into strategic opportunities for product innovation and differentiation  Tooling Familiarity – Experience with key tools for product / portfolio management and analytics (e.g., Jira, Pendo, Tableau, Power BI) 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

5+ years of experience with management consulting or corporate strategy for a product-led company 

 

 

MBA highly preferred  Experience at a top management consulting firm focused on product/technology  Experience in the HR Tech industry  Experience working with B2B SaaS products  Experience working in large, enterprise organizations 

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is $102,100.00 - $273,150.00 / Year
