The Director Public Safety is responsible for the security, safety, and emergency management of Saint Agnes Medical Center (SAMC) and all off-site locations (including doctor's offices, urgent cares, and centers). This position will ensure SAMC maintains safe and secure facilities and grounds by enforcing regular inspections, regularly patrolling the interior and exterior grounds, and responding as needed to safety concerns and unusual events with trained employees. The Director Public Safety will develop and ensure compliance with the hospital and regulatory agency policies and procedures pertaining to safety and security, particularly during patient interactions. This position will serve as the hospital's principal representative to outside agencies in all safety and security matters and ensure campus security as it relates to perceived and actual concerns for personal safety, fire, theft, vandalism, and disruptive behavior. This position will oversee the daily operations of the Security and Valet functions.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Safety, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Security Management or Police Science.
2. Ten (10) years of Security management experience is required.
3. Certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) as either Supervisor or Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) is required within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
4. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is required.
5. Valid California Driver's License and a good driving record is required. Out-of-state candidates must obtain a valid California driver's license within three (3) months from the date of hire.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
7. Ability to exercise sound reasoning and confidentiality while maintaining a tactful demeanor in all dealings and interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and staff is required.
8. Proven successful leadership experience required. Seven (7) years of leadership experience is preferred.
9. Experience with aggressive patients and application of least restrictive techniques, including de-escalation techniques preferred.
10. Four (4) years of Emergency Preparedness or Disaster Planning experience is preferred.
11. Business management experience is preferred.
12. Knowledge of the Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care standards is preferred.
13. Knowledge of lean management principles are preferred.
Pay Range $54.20 - $81.31
