The Workers’ Compensation and Employee Benefits Claims Performance Analytics group is seeking a Director to drive claim insights and strategy with a focus on Short Term Disability claims and Leave Management. As a leader on the Claim Performance Analytics team, this position will lead a small team to create innovative solutions, understand trends, and develop actionable insights for the organization.
This role is highly visible within Claims and to business segment leadership, requiring both a mastery of detailed technical analysis and the ability to clearly communicate to higher levels of the organization. As an expert resource for business segment executives, this leader will monitor trends within these lines of business, reporting findings to the leaders of Employee Benefits. Essential to success will be the ability to build strong, trusted relationships with Actuarial and Product business partners by converting claims metrics into actionable business insights. The candidate must effectively communicate technical data and analytic results to a diverse audience and be a proven leader and strategic thinker.
This leader will also hold the responsibility of partnering with Transformation & Optimization Office (T&OO) to identify areas of opportunity, contribute to initiative development, and support the implementation of innovative solutions that enhance claim performance and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Translating data into actionable insights and presenting results and recommendations to various levels of business leadership.Leading and developing a team of 5-7 Performance Analysts to develop, test, and validate Key Performance Indicators and provide analysis and insights.Overseeing the creation of advanced leading indicator metrics and analytical frameworks.Overseeing the dedicated analytics for our largest EB client.Leading deep dive analysis into emerging trends and root cause analysis, explaining results and recommendations to Claims and Segment Executive Leadership.Developing a deep understanding of the claim process and interactions with overall results.Regularly participating in Claim and business segment meetings.Organizing and balancing multiple priorities.Evaluating and integrating new tools or analytical techniques to enhance data insights and performance analytics.Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in an analytic function (in Finance, Operations, Claims, Actuarial, or Sales) within the insurance industry; experience with advanced trending analytics and statistics.2+ years in a leadership role successfully developing a team.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to use data and technical concepts to inform executive leaders in addition to Claims field leaders.Extensive analytical experience using limited data to draw insights.Documented track record of creating innovative data solutions; passion for delivering outcomes. Ability to turn complex data into a compelling, clear story.Collaborative; Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.Disciplined and structured thought leader with the ability to understand customer needs.Experience with Data Visualization tools and techniques such as Tableau or other information delivery solutions.Strategic thinker; intellectually curious; transparent approach to discussing analytics.Able to work independently; excellent judgment and sound decision-making skills.Creative problem-solving mindset with a passion for delivering outcomes.Short Term Disability, Leave product experience or knowledge of actuarial principles is a strong plus.Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or an equivalent/related degree preferred.Claims Performance Analytics Strategic Direction:

Additional Information:
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
