Director Patient Care Services, Quality, Standards & Practice - Mount Sinai Brooklyn - Nursing Administration - Full-time - Day
**Qualifications** Doctoral degree in Nursing, Hospital or Business Administration or related field preferred. Eligibility for joint appointment with University affiliation.Licensed and currently registered or otherwise duly authorized to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State. **Responsibilities** **_Roles and Responsibilities_** **Clinical/Technical/Service** 1. Responsible to support the mission of the Beth Israel Medical Center and the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Patient Care Services 2. Acts as an organizational leader in Continuum's commitment to diversity and inclusion by participating in and showing a commitment to activities that promote cultural competency and open dialogue in the workplace 3. Directs the nursing quality improvement activities through effective utilization of services, initiation and maintenance of quality standards and program development 4. Directs the review, revision and development of Patient Care Services practices and standards of care 5. Coordinates PCS activities for performance improvement at all divisions, including inpatient and outpatient activities 6. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for performance improvement program within the framework of the Department of Patient Care Services 7. Ensures that the PCS performance improvement program meets regulatory agency, professional, hospital and department standards 8. Develops and/or implements a system whereby the quality and effectiveness of care is defined, monitored, maintained and/or improved 9. Ensures the integrity of PCS quality iniatives. Participates in hospital, quality improvement programs 10. Oversees and recommends to nursing leadership improvement strategies to address compliances with CMS/Joint Commission Core Measures 11. Collaborates with administration, department heads and medical staff to plan, problem-solve, implement and evaluate programs and decisions which affect the delivery of patient care and acts as a liaison to the Medical Center wide Quality Improvement Department 12. Works with nursing staff to Identify problems, execute resolutions and sustain improvements, this includes follow up for corrective actions in all quality initiatives 13. Makes recommendations to the Vice President, Patient Care Services regarding departmental policies, practice issues as related to performance improvement strategies, system-wide practice iniatives and standards of care 14. Collaborates with other departments/disciplines in pursuit of Standard and Practice Committee activities 15. Plans, organizes and directs the activities of Standards Committee(s) and CHP Practice Committee 16. Organizes resources, materials and budgetary considerations needed to actualize the activities of Standards and Practice Committees 17. Ensures that PCS policies and procedures are in conformance with requirements outlined by regulatory agencies such as CMS, OMH, NYS /NYC DOH and Joint Commission 18. Collaborates with and directs the activities of Standards Committee and CHP Practice Committee membership in the development, revision and monitoring of BIMC specific and CHP system wide quality patient care practice and procedure initiatives 19. Fosters the use of evidenced based policy/procedure development/revision 20. Fosters the growth and development of the committee members and committee structure 21. Participates in intra and inter departmental committees and meetings, including participation in Sentinel Event RCA forums. Identifies areas of nursing performance improvement 22. Fosters a professional practice environment through the encouragement and facilitation of collegial interdisciplinary relationships, peer review, nursing research, innovative concepts of nursing practice, and joint practice arrangements through affiliating universities 23. Acts as a preceptor for graduate students 24. Communicates appropriate information to subordinates and keeps peers and superiors apprised of needs and current developments 25. Demonstrates organization in written and oral communication 26. Participates in the development and monitoring of the supply expense and capital budget of the division 27. Assumes first line hospital administrative coverage on a rotational basis 28. Assumes relief coverage for Vice President, Patient Care Services as assigned 29. Maintains confidentiality in the management of information 30. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to understand provision of care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to all patients served **Age Specific Competencies** (Neonate/Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric) 1. Collaborates with educators to plan, implement and evaluate divisional and/or unit departmental educational programs 2. Assesses own individual learning needs and takes action to maintain professional growth 3. Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements 4. Identifies learning strengths and needs **D. Communication/Relationships** 1. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families and significant others 2. Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community 3. Adheres to Continuum’s legal and ethical standards 4. The salary range for the role is $218400 - $239200 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
