As Director of Operational Audit on our Internal Audit team, you will lead a team executing integrated operational audits of business units, products, activities, and functions. You will serve as a consultant and business partner to ADP leaders, ensuring our audit process maintains adherence to the highest standards, from planning to the issuance of the audit report.

What you’ll do:

Here’s what you can expect on a typical day:

Lead a team that delivers strategic, operational, and integrated audits of business units, functions, and processes. Perform and/or supervise the performance of the following with little or no supervision: Develop and communicate recommendations that resolve or prevent errors and enhance controls or efficiency within the audited entity Provide timely status reports to VP, Head of Internal Audit regarding the progress of activities and issues Conduct preliminary surveys of audit areas to define scope Prepare planning / scoping memos and engagement letters Develop audit programs ensuring complete coverage and analysis of assigned areas Prepare audit reports and review findings with IAD management and the client Act as department resource for knowledge in a critical subject matter area and/or of key business processes Review associates' work and provide feedback; provide regular performance evaluations (both formal and informal); ensure development of staff consistent with competency requirements of departmental standards and meeting ADP's internal training expectations Provide quality control and ensure that all work is performed, documented, and retained according to departmental standards Ensure that issues or problems are addressed and communicated appropriately in a timely manner. Develop and communicate recommendations that resolve or prevent errors and enhance controls or efficiency within the audited entity Provide timely status reports to VP, Head of Internal Audit regarding the progress of activities and issues Serve as project manager of moderate to large audits with moderate to high complexity and perform audits and special reviews as requested Formally meet with client senior management to discuss audit issues and agree on a recommended course of action Draft and issue audit reports in accordance with department standards and metrics Supervise and participate in the completion of multiple assignments on time and within budget, while meeting quality standards Support the continuous risk assessment process and the development of the global operational and compliance audit plan Develop annual budget with VP, Head of Internal Audit and manage to budget throughout the year Develop and communicate strategic goals. Manage relationships with key stakeholders. Implement initiatives and processes to ensure that all work is completed according to scheduled deadlines with attention to quality standards, priorities, and overall goals. Serve as a resource for other team members, based on a strong working knowledge of the team's responsibilities and goals. Lead and inspire the organization in human resource management activities, including maintaining proper staffing levels, optimizing staffing resources, achieving individual and team goals, ensuring overall alignment with performance management requirements, goals and rewards systems, employee relations, mentoring, and talent and career development. Establish clearly defined individual performance goals and objectives; communicate these to team members through 1-on-1 meetings and performance planning and review sessions; provide periodic performance feedback and conduct annual performance reviews on all team members. Develop leaders for succession. Manage escalated issues and provide direction. Evaluate direct reports on performance and complete annual performance appraisals. Collaborate with direct reports to establish Individual Development Plans. Develop and administer corrective action and performance improvement plans. Budgetary responsibility. Make critical decisions on department hiring and terminations. Function as a consultant and business partner to other organizations within ADP. Monitor various productivity and performance standards to ensure that established levels are achieved, especially during critical activity periods. Serve as an acting backup to other leaders, providing leadership, guidance, and direction to team members in the absence of the leader. Participate in task forces, strategic initiatives, stretch assignments and collaboration opportunities with other business units. Prepare and present reports on team performance.

Experience. You have 10+ years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.  Experience in a Big 4 Public or National Accounting firm or comparable business will allow extra comfortability in the role.  

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

Demonstrated expertise in understanding the business, assessing risks and vulnerabilities, and defining audit scope and objectives. Relevant industry certification (CIA, CISA, CPA) is required. 5+ years of people leadership experience, including demonstrated expertise leading a team in all aspects of an audit, including planning, conducting walkthroughs, preparing meeting agendas, performing testing, work paper documentation, control evaluation, report drafting, and verification of issue closure. Experience communicating effectively with all levels of internal and external contacts verbally and in writing. Excellent collaboration, organizational, time management, customer service, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions. Ability to work and thrive in a team environment, focused on achieving results. Ability to develop leaders. Ability to assess team members' performance and provide motivational support Strong client relationship-building skills. Ability to recognize basic procedural issues as they arise and escalate to the appropriate level. Ability to demonstrate learning agility and critical thinking skills and apply basic concepts in new situations. Proficient in the latest web technologies and working knowledge of various operating systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite. You’ll have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.

The following would allow extra comfortability in the role:

Prior leadership training. Proficiency and in-depth knowledge of all pertinent ADP HR, Payroll, and Benefits policies and procedures. Working knowledge of technology, security, or resiliency risks and controls.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is $94,700.00 - $192,100.00 / Year
