Director Online Business Operations and Strategy

Position Purpose:

The Director, Business Operations and Strategy is responsible for the long-range planning and the short term focus of project management, leading or supporting Private Brand and Online Merchandising initiatives, process improvements and building productive relationships among Online and Merchandising partners. Through process efficiencies, analytics, and project improvement initiatives, the position will build and maintain a best-in-class customer experience through continual improvement in people, process, and technology interfaces.

Position will lead and provide critical insight, knowledge, and priorities for accelerating private brand sales online through the following key areas:

Single point of contact with Online, CEX and BA Leadership teams and drive prioritization and focus for key private brand categories across all lines of business

Leverage growing onsite tactics and online capabilities to increase visibility and findability for private brands.

Creating a digital performance standard for PB that translate complex site data into actionable next steps for PDM’s and Brand Advocates

Leverage supply Chain capabilities (DFC via Transload), evaluate pilot categories, partner with supply chain team and assist in prioritization of new category roll-outs

Grow stakeholder engagement and alignment, including new supplier scalability team and online merch solutions team

Increase operational velocity by leveraging learnings from NEW online long tail supplier scalability team

Partner with and leverage growing AI driven insights and automation


Key Responsibilities:

20% Project Leadership: Develop an effective plan for controlling project scope, schedule, task assignment, budget, and monitors project execution to ensure the plan is being followed. Documents the project dependencies and ensures a viable work plan is created that results in the on time completion of the project.20% Operational Leadership: Lead the establishment of a suite of common processes, operating procedures, policies, reports and tools across all programs that encompass merchandising resources. Works to ensure accountability in execution of programs in adherence to established processes and monitor operational performance.20% Program Governance: Govern program pipeline in partnership with senior leaders to ensure the highest and best use of resources. Based on performance and strategic metrics, make recommendations for expansion or contraction of key initiatives and identify overlaps.15% Change Management: Leads through strategic changes, and introduces metrics designed to track the effects of action plans and determine whether the actions are effective at meeting targets or whether new plans should be developed.15% Communication: Develops an effective plan for communicating project information to teams and stakeholders. Develops written status reports and scorecards, and presents review documents to senior leaders.10% Stakeholder Management: Maintains a close and positive relationship with cross-functional leaders to ensure smooth and seamless integration of new programs into regular operations when appropriate. Obtains feedback on an ongoing basis to monitor the degree to which programs meet needs and expectations.

Travel Requirements:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Master's Degree (MBA)Experience in Strategic Business DevelopmentCross functional experience in Online, Merchandising, Finance, or Information Technology

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
