About the Role

The Director of Wellness oversees the daily operations of the spa, fitness and Asaya members. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an innovative, unique and noteworthy wellness offering for hotel guests and members. A natural born leader, you will develop the teams’ knowledge, skills, and service for a destination spa and build, nurture relationships with the team to ensure they provide an engaging, intuitive and refined service to our members and guests.

* Lead and manage all aspects of wellness operations which include spa, fitness and Asaya membership, ensuring exceptional service delivery and financial performance across all areas.
* Develop strategic direction of wellness areas, create innovative spa & wellness programs and packages to drive revenue and meet market demands.
* Play a crucial role in driving revenue growth, implementing marketing initiatives, and fostering relationships with guests, members and third parties
* Drive membership acquisition and retention by offering unique and bespoke services, keeping up with latest market trends
* Prepare monthly financial and statistical reports, incorporating proposals and recommendations regarding policy and operation at the Spa, taking into account competition, occupancy and usage, market share and achievement of targets.
* Liaise with the Director of Communications in the preparation and development of marketing plans for the year and co-ordination of all promotional plans and projects for the facility.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with guests and members, ensuring their needs and preferences are anticipated and met.
* Assist in recruiting, training, and managing the wellness team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

* Drive revenue sales across all channels and opportunities throughout the property

* Create programming and experiences for the spa and across the property to drive the community to the spa, as well as create events for members and hotel guests to garner engagement

* Champions gathering Trust You surveys and guest feedback


About You

* A collaborative and hands on leader, with a passion for your team
* Extensive knowledge of local spa market
* Proven experience running successful spa and fitness operations with membership components

* Proven experience in driving retail across different channels, such as pop-ups on property, retail within the spa, upselling from treatments, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Broad understanding of the concept Spa and Health Tourism industry, Spa Management and Operations, Budget Control, Personnel Management, Opportunity Management, Fluent in Microsoft and the Internet, knowledge of computer system for spas, extensive knowledge of massage techniques, Cosmetology, hydrotherapy, therapeutic techniques, traditional and natural methods

•         Education: Bachelors or Associate degree preferred or a combination of education and equivalent work experience. Certifications in Massage and/or Esthetics preferred.

•         Experience: Minimum five (5) years spa experience in a luxury hotel/resort environment. Previous Spa Director level experience required.

•         General Skills:  Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.  Motivated/outgoing personality

•         Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; Opera, Spa Soft and Birchstreet preferred. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills  Ability to work within a team/individually

•         Language:  Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.

•         Physical Requirements:    Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 40 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.

This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. This position is eligible for bonus.Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel luxury experience, location, and education.
