Director of Value Analysis - Materials Management

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.

Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system by:
(a) promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking
(b) engaging, directing, and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system requirements 

(c) promoting improvement
Leads a system-wide value analysis process, with the goal of providing high-quality and cost-effective products, equipment, and services to McLeod Health. 
This individual serves as the Corporate lead for all value analysis teams, and collaborates with key internal departments such as Supply Chain, Finance, Accounts Payable, and Legal, as well as end-user departments to review their supply needs and translate them into an optimal formulary.   
The individual is responsible for ensuring all Value Analysis decisions combine a business case (financial benefits) and clinical analysis (qualitative benefits) to drive informed decisions about product efficacy, safety, and cost which results in an optimal formulary.  
Responsible for facilitating and driving cost reduction opportunities through improved standardization, utilization, price leveling strategies, and value analysis while maintaining excellent clinical quality and healthcare access.
Responsible for physician onboarding as it relates to supply, equipment, and services. Ensures onboarding physician requests are handled timely and aligned with current strategy and formulary. Utilizes leading Value Analysis methodologies to access new products, equipment, and service request with respect to cost, quality, and outcomes.
Oversees the product disruption processes including product complaints and product backorders to ensure appropriate documentation and resolution, finding clinically acceptable alternative manufacturer/suppliers or products.
Oversees the establishment and monitoring of key financial indicators to ensure expected results are achieved and maintained. Reviews results that vary from expected clinical and financial outcomes and make recommendations and/or implement solutions as appropriate.
Responsible for cost savings targets based on the organization’s management action plan goals.  Maintains the value analysis financial tracker to include the cost and revenue impact of all value analysis initiatives.
Presents savings initiatives and financial tracking to Supply Chain and Executive Leadership.
Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes, workflows, etc. for the Value Analysis area and implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department and McLeod Health. 
Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Value Analysis and overall Supply Chain areas. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence to applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.      
Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Value Analysis by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices
Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks while still meeting deadlines. 
Extremely strong leadership, motivational, organizational, project management, communication, analytical, Excel and customer service skills.
Requires availability twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to provide support during planned, or emergency situations or events to include being physically on site if deemed necessary.
Requires the ability to work under/handle stressful situations.
Must be a quick thinker and able to displays positive emotional behavior, as well as apply positive social
skills with co-workers, vendors, customers, and patients.

Qualifications:

Qualifications/Training:
•    Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Health Care Administration, or related field or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelors degree. MBA and/or MHA Preferred. 
•    Must have 10 years of Value Analysis, Process Improvement, Quality Improvement, Clinical Management, Supply Chain Management or related experience in a healthcare setting.

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field Required
•    RN License Preferred
•    MBA/MHA Preferred
•    CVAHP Preferred
•    CMRP Preferred
