This position will work with the US Vaccines field based medical team (FMHs, MSLs and MRSADs) and other relevant internal stakeholders including medical directors, franchise heads and medical advisors to develop and implement field excellence initiatives aligned with franchise priorities. This position also oversees the Strategic Planners and the Associate Director of North America training and development.

 

Key roles are providing oversight/management of systems and processes (e.g., CRM, content management (CLM), LMS, communications, budget), strategic input into development/implementation of OKRs and supporting analytics/reporting, field digital strategy and socializing Scientific Engagement Innovation resources and communications.

 

In addition, this position will pull through relevant cross-GBU field medical task force initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Roles and Responsibilities (60%):

 

Strategic Leadership:

Oversee the  NA Strategic Planner franchise roles for implementation and communication of impact of the Franchise Country Medical Strategic Roadmaps and other North America Medical initiatives.

Oversee the Associate Director NA Training and Development role to support development and implementation of field and office medical OKRs, and efficient methods for capturing and reporting data using CRM and other systems.

Lead the development and execution of long-term strategic plans for field medical operations, aligning with organizational goals and objectives

Drive strategic initiatives that enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency of the field medical team

Innovation and Improvement:

Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve field medical processes and systems, ensuing alignment with latest industry standards and best practices

Champion continuous improvement efforts to optimize field medical operations and drive strategic growth

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Foster strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to support the development and implementation of field medical strategies

Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure field medical initiatives are aligned with broader organizational strategies

Data-Driven Decision Making:

Utilize advanced analytics to provide strategic insights and recommendations for field medical operations in close coordination with NA SEI Excellence head

Develop and implement metrics to measure the success of strategic initiatives and drive data-driven decision-making in close coordination with SEI Excellence head

Strategic Communication:

Lead strategic communication efforts to ensure alignment and collaboration across the field medical team and other departments

Develop and deliver strategic presentations to senior leadership, highlighting the impact and progress of field medical initiatives in close coordination with SEI Excellence head

 

Medical Operations  Roles and Responsibilities (40%):

Leads development, coordination, and implementation of field medical excellence initiatives (e.g., field standards, enhancement of systems/processes, career paths, training curriculum, benchmarking and qualitative assessment of field medical initiatives/performance, etc.) to drive consistency and efficiency of processes across the field medical organization, ensure that team processes align with systems, and identify/recommend/support process improvement opportunities.

Provides day-to-day oversight/administration and support for team systems and processes, working with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g., CRM, Sharepoint, CLM, LMS)

Coordinates field content management to ensure approved resources and materials are uploaded and stored in the appropriate platform; provides oversight/coordination to ensure compliant use.

Leads coordination of team meetings and formal communications, enhancing cross functional alignment and collaboration

Oversees management of team budgets and coordinates with Strat Planners, Finance and NA SEI Excellence Head to ensure timely reporting and responsibly fiscal management.

Supports project management for key initiatives with regional field medical heads, supporting project requirements mapping, event planning, vendor assessment/selection, tracking of project milestones and appropriate documentation (e.g., FMVs, GRFs)

Oversees process and reporting for field medical activities/initiatives (e.g., field insights reports, OKRs, Quarterly MIR reports, Field Coaching reports, team performance dashboards).  Provides support to ensure sources of field insights are considered for medical insight analytics.  Coordinates with field leads and NA SEI Excellence Head to provide field medical project dashboard updates.

Supports efforts to further define field digital strategy and ongoing digital innovation.

Initiates/coordinates training on IT resources, including CRM, content library, Sharepoint, KOL Analytics, LMS, and other company related IT resources; helps ensure appropriate IT resource utilization.

Manages internal matrix cross-functional teams, projects, and collaborative ways of working communications.

Develop and support implementation of measures to ensure audit preparedness relating to field medical (e.g., medical information requests, training documentation, scientific education programs and use of external speakers, field medical policy, use of approved resources).

Support interface with medical operations, shared services, and IT.

Support congress planning and stakeholder engagement coordination for field medical, aligned to US and Global Franchises, and working closely with Med Strat Planners

 

 About You

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements: Terminal degree, doctorate and/or MBA preferred with at least 5 years of industry experience in field medical affairs OR a Master’s degree with 10 years of industry experience in medical affairs.

Experience in project management, information technology, analytics, training/development, and process improvement methodologies are highly desirable.

 

Professional Qualifications:

Strong planning and tracking skills, well-organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects with respect to priorities and self-management.

Candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of Medical Affairs organizations and specifically the field medical function including related operating processes, systems, policies, procedures and regulations.

A strong working knowledge of business processes and systems, including strategic planning and budgeting, is highly desirable.

Awareness/understanding of field systems and process desirable (e.g., CRM).

Candidate must possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational time management skills, and the ability to lead, collaborate and align with diverse, cross-functional matrix teams.

Understanding of pharmaceutical or biotechnical regulated environments and functions

Analytical and detail oriented, well developed organizational skills, pragmatic in solving problems

 

 Additional Professional Skills and Requirements: 

 

Travel will be required for team meetings, other company functions, field coaching and congress activity.  As well as an appropriate level of home office engagement for effective collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Ability to lead project management initiatives and process improvement

Ability to champion strategic change initiatives, promote innovation, and implement new approaches

Ability to conduct effective meetings

Tech savvy; familiar with information systems, CRM platforms, and IT resources

Fluent in Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Veeva, AI

The salary range for this position is:

$172,500.00 - $249,166.66
