Job Summary


This Director of Sourcing will lead a sourcing team with oversight of +$2B in Medical Surgical, Laboratory and Pharmaceuticals. Director of Strategic Sourcing plans, develops, and implements sourcing and procurement for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). This includes sourcing, process improvement, and supply chain functions. Develops and implements sourcing strategy, policies, and practices that meet service and quality standards. Manages total costs and aligns with BSWH business goals. Focuses on improving sourcing processes and directs studies on sourcing efficiency and cost effectiveness. Collaborates with leadership in supply chain management, logistics, HTM operations, and finance. Drives improvement in sourcing processes within the area of responsibility and across BSWH. Develops initiatives to evaluate vendors, set price controls, and prioritize cost-reduction goals. Ensures compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements impacting BSWH sourcing.
 

A system Director translates and implements strategic plans and goals for their area. They make final judgments on operational matters and ensure goals are met. They recommend policies and organizational changes for their area. They plan and execute projects and initiatives that meet annual goals. Erroneous judgments at this level can negatively impact the area's success, the business unit, and possibly the overall organization. They plan and direct the operations of a department or area, with responsibility for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs. They guide and advise subordinates to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. They oversee a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often, one or more managers or supervisors report to this role.


Essential Functions of the Role
•    Directs strategic sourcing for assigned area of responsibility for BSWH.
•    Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and goals for strategic sourcing aligned to BSWH overall business objectives.
•    Directs supplier selection, negotiation, and contract finalization for key sourcing contracts for medical supplies, materials, equipment, and other goods.
•    Collaborates with hospital senior leadership, medical staff leadership, and other stakeholders. Factors in sourcing recommendations to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs across the system.
•    Develops and implements sourcing programs and initiatives with a goal of sourcing high quality products at an effective cost.
•    Identifies and resolves significant supplier issues resulting from contract non-compliance and vendor performance and tracks and evaluates sourcing metrics.
•    Researches and identifies new suppliers and vendors to support current service levels and new growth plans for the organization.
•    Develops and implements sourcing policies, procedures, processes, and standards focusing on supply chain excellence.
•    Develops and implements continuous improvement programs. Initiatives are based on industry best practices to save costs and increase quality.
•    Identifies strategic sourcing efficiencies including cost management, operational optimization, and contract compliance.
•    Focuses on talent development, collaboration, partnership across the system.
•    Embraces an ongoing change environment and supports the team while maintaining diligence and accountability.
 

Key Success FactorsBachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, healthcare administration, or relevant field.5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or related area.1+ years of experience in a leadership role.Metrics motivated orientation with expertise in purchasing, supplier collaboration, and compliance.Ability to manage supplier relationships, vendor programs, and internal customer expectations.Exceptional relationship building, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.Track record of identifying and implementing cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives.Exceptional understanding of supply chain management and execution, including Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), distribution, and local contracting.Belonging Statement
