Director of Security Technology Operations
Position Description:

The Security Technology Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) security systems and platforms. This Director is also responsible for optimizing security operations with innovation and integration of new capabilities.
 
The Security Technology Operations Director plays a crucial role in ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of our digital assets, as well as mitigating cyber threats and vulnerabilities. This role requires a strong technical background in IT systems management, cyber security, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
 
This role can be located at the following CGI locations:  Ottawa, Toronto, or Calgary.

 
 

Your future duties and responsibilities:

•Lead the operation, maintenance & evolution of cyber security systems, based on the strategic business direction. This includes (but not limited to) on-prem and cloud security solutions such as endpoint security solutions (EDR), Managed Detection & Response (MDR), Security Service Edge (SSE), log collection and management, and security information and event management (SIEM).
•Manage a team of security professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to drive performance by establishing and tacking performance metrics, SLAs and KPIs.
•Provide technical leadership and guidance for any security solutions and systems in support of the business strategic plan to ensure successful integration with operational processes and existing technologies.
•Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance the operations posture of the organization security systems and ensure compliance with relevant compliance, regulations, and standards.
•Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and other service providers to evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance cyber security capabilities.
•Conduct regular assessments and audits of security controls (ie NIST 800-53) and solutions, identifying areas for improvement and corrective action.
•Stay informed about the latest cyber security trends, threats, vulnerabilities, technologies and provide strategic guidance to leadership on cyber security solutions evolution and mitigation strategies.
•Manage a team of security professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to drive performance and achieve departmental objectives.

Direct, lead and report on Security Technology Operations
•Perform research and development in cyber technical capabilities & recommend improvements.
•Maintain operational efficiencies priorities & roadmap.
•Oversee all GSOC platforms and Intellectual Property (IP) Solutions.
•Deliver and operate innovation projects.

Service Management
•Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers and/or lead service delivery & evolution (requirements, SLA, etc.).
•Maintain relationship with other leaders of the team, vendors and service providers (internal and external).

HR Management
•Provide coaching and education to members of the security team in support of their career path.
•Manage, set objectives, and measure member performance in achieving those objectives.
•Responsible for resource management and staffing allocation (i.e. training, budget, hiring, etc.)
•Support and develop members of the Security Technology Operations team in their career path.

Other Responsibilities
•Optimize security operations using DevOps concepts, AI and automation.
•Lead the strategy, lifecycle management, and continuous evolution of GSOC security technologies and architecture (such as SIEM, SOAR, threat intelligence platforms, EDR/XDR, incident management tools) in collaboration with key stakeholders

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

The candidate should have expertise and strong experience (7-10 years) in at least two (2) of the following areas with at least 3 years in a technical leadership and/or management role:

. Cyber security services delivery
. Security solutions operations
. IT operations & solution delivery

. In-depth knowledge of cyber security principles, practices, technologies, and standards.
. Experience with designing, implementing, and managing IT/security systems and platforms (such SIEM, Log Management, Endpoint protection, etc.)
. Strong understanding of IT service delivery practices aligned with ITIL service delivery components.
. Good understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, SOC2 Type II, NIST 800-53 Cybersecurity Framework).
. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Education:
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
