Director of Security
**Description:** We are seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Security to oversee the safety, security, and loss prevention strategies for our premier boutique hotel. Featuring three bustling bars, a full-service restaurant, and a cafe, our property requires a leader who can balance a high standard of discreet, hospitality-driven security with vigilant risk management. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment for all guests and staff, mitigating internal and external theft, spearheading property-wide safety initiatives, and directly managing and developing a dedicated team of security guards utilizing industry-leading security, surveillance, and property management platforms. Team Leadership & Safety Committee • Spearhead the hotel’s Safety Committee, organizing regular meetings, driving safety awareness, and ensuring property wide compliance with OSHA and local safety regulations. • Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate a team of five physical security guards . • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the security team, ensuring they align with the hotel’s boutique hospitality standards. • Lead by example, fostering a culture of vigilance, professionalism, and excellent customer service across all departments. Physical Security, Surveillance, Access Control & Guest Safety • Oversee all physical security operations across the hotel property, including the lobby, guest floors, restaurant, cafe, and three bars. • Actively monitor, manage, and export CCTV footage utilizing the XProtect Video Management System to investigate incidents, support loss prevention, and ensure comprehensive property surveillance. • Administer and manage the property's electronic access and key control systems, including Vostio and BioStar, ensuring appropriate access levels for staff and guests. • Maintain strict accountability of physical assets and keys using the KeyWatcher management system. • Coordinate emergency response protocols (medical emergencies, fire, evacuation) and serve as the primary liaison with local law enforcement and first responders. • Manage crowd control and de-escalation in high-traffic food and beverage (F&B) and nightlife areas. Loss Prevention, Reporting & Risk Management • Utilize MS Shift to log daily activity reports, manage lost and found, track incidents, and maintain comprehensive, organized security records. • Interface with the front desk and utilize OPERA Cloud to verify guest information, resolve room disputes, and support seamless hotel operations. • Develop and implement comprehensive loss prevention programs to minimize internal theft, external theft, and property damage. Position: Department: Reports To: Status: Director of Security Security Director of Rooms Exempt • Conduct internal investigations regarding missing inventory, cash discrepancies, and employee misconduct in collaboration with Human Resources and F&B Management. • Regularly audit safety practices, access points, and inventory controls across the bars, restaurant, and cafe. **Qualifications:** • Experience: Minimum 4 years of progressive hotel, security, or law enforcement experience, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role. • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in hospitality, hotel, or nightlife security is highly preferred. Experience managing security around venues that serve alcohol is essential. • Technical & Systems Proficiency: Required hands-on experience and working knowledge of: ◦ XProtect (Video Management System / CCTV) ◦ MS Shift (Security operations and incident reporting) ◦ OPERA Cloud (Property Management System) ◦ Vostio & BioStar (Access control platforms) ◦ KeyWatcher (Electronic key management) • Risk Management: Proven track record of leading safety committees, conducting internal investigations, and implementing effective loss prevention strategies. • Skills: Exceptional conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
