Job Summary:

The Director of Retail Operations at Goodwill Industries of Middle TN, Inc is responsible for overseeing the strategic management and operational execution of the retail and donated goods division. This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and enhancing the overall customer experience while aligning with the organization's mission to provide job training and employment services. This position is a key leadership role within the Donated Goods Department.

The scope of leadership will include the overall success and direct responsibility for the profit and loss of the retail stores and e-Commerce operations in Middle Tennessee. This role is responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and presenting information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, best practices, expense controls, and economic trends impacting retail operation efficiencies.

Job Description

Essential Functions

Develops and implements strategic plans to maximize revenue and profitability in the retail and donated goods sector. Oversees the management of retail operations, including staffing, merchandising, inventory control, and customer service. Responsible for leading a team to deliver on the financial, operational and customer experience expectations of the organization.  Establish KPIs and conduct regular evaluations to support continuous improvement across teams. Leads recruiting efforts for management personnel; hires and develops the best talent for leadership roles.Develops and implements all continuous quality activities on current processes and procedures. Directs, plans, assists and supports new locations and grand openings. Identify the skills of leading the department in response to long-range needs as identified. Be a collaborative partner across all departments to ensure a financially sound business and healthy team culture.Ensures best practices are consistently executed across all store locations. Fosters positive and effective relationships with other departments. Assists Regional Directors in achieving and obtaining regional, departmental and agency-wide goals. Reviews other donations and retail operations, systems and tools as appropriate to implement efficient and effective donations and retail solutions. Ensures consistent delivery of the Customer and Donor Value Proposition. Leads the development of new donation and retail initiatives and business opportunities. Is knowledgeable of and ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times. Identify operational risks and implement strategies to ensure compliance with safety and labor regulations. Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Retail Management or related field required.  A combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the required education. 

Experience

Minimum 7+ years of experience in multi-unit supervision of high-volume locations. Proven track record of successfully managing and growing retail operations, preferably within a non-profit or donated goods environment.Experience in strategic planning and execution to drive business growth and improve operational efficiencies. Experience in immediate and long-range planning, goal setting, and implementation. Knowledge of and experience with financial budgeting and analysis. Strong evidence of developing internal, cross-divisional partnerships to support collaboration and strategic partnerships. Demonstrated experience identifying organizational weaknesses/opportunities and working cross-divisionally to address these through training, process changes, or other initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills

Able to relate well to a wide variety of people, from our clients who have disabilities to agency board members and other community leaders.Able to proficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and can learn new software as needed.Results oriented and driven to achieve and exceed goals.Able to get along well with others and must be a team player.Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.

Certifications and Licenses

Must have a valid Tennessee Driver's License while maintaining a good driving record and appropriate insurance.Needs to maintain dependable transportation and communication devices.
