Director of Research Technology - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Health Corporate - Onsite
**Job Description** This position is onsite Location: 150 E 42nd Street, New York, NY The Director of Research Technology is a foundational role that supports the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s research mission and ensures operational and regulatory integrity. Working within the Mount Sinai Health System Information Technology team and serving as a strategic leader and institutional liaison, the Director ensures that Mount Sinai’s research enterprise is supported by secure, scalable, and innovative technology solutions. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Research Technology, the Director serves as the subject matter expert for research enterprise technology, providing oversight of systems supporting basic, translational and clinical research. With deep expertise in research administration, clinical research and compliance, the Director aligns institutional priorities with technology strategy. The role requires leading stakeholder engagement and process improvement, as well as translating complex research & regulatory requirements into effective, technology enabled solutions while managing a team of product managers and analysts. **Qualifications** **Education Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or related field required. + Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or Public Health preferred. **Experience Requirements** + Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in research administration, clinical research operations, or research compliance within an academic medical center or research institution. + Strong knowledge of: + Research administration + Clinical research technology and operations + Research compliance (IRB, IACUC, COI) + Experience with enterprise research systems such as Huron Research Suite, OnCore Clinical Trials Management System, REDCap, Epic Research and others. + Proven ability to translate research business needs into system and process solutions. + Exposure to AI, automation and data analytics in research or healthcare environments preferred. **General Skills and Competencies** + Domain knowledge in research administration, clinical research and compliance. + Strategic planning and business process improvement skills. + Strong communication, facilitation and relationship building abilities. + Collaborative leadership and cross-functional coordination. + Commitment to innovation, compliance and institutional excellence. **Compensation Statement** The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,000.00 - $208,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. Non-Bargaining Unit, 075 - Research IT - ISM, Icahn School of Medicine **Responsibilities** **Scope of the Role** This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that relies on deep domain expertise in research compliance and IT system administration. While the Director manages a functional team, success in this role is defined by the ability to translate complex academic needs into technical specs and navigate a matrixed environment, rather than independent departmental governance. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Serve as the strategic liaison between research leadership, administration and technology teams to guide alignment between priorities, business needs and enterprise solutions. + Provide subject matter expertise in translating research administration, clinical research, and regulatory compliance requirements into enterprise technology implementation plans. + Lead cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholder groups Research Operations, Clinical Research, Compliance and IT to identify process gaps and recommend technology improvement priorities. + Optimize strategic oversight and functional leadership for core research systems, including the Huron Research Suite (IRB/IACUC/COI), Grants Management system, Epic Research, Clinical Trials Management System, and Electronic Data Capture systems. + Empower and supervise a team of Product Managers and Application Analysts to align product roadmaps with organizational goals and system requirements. + Collaborate with institutional teams to explore the use of AI, automation and analytics in research operations and oversight. + Liaise with Associate Director of Research Technology and team to maintain and streamline the delivery of integrations, new builds, infrastructure updates and application upgrades for core systems. + Lead stakeholder governance, communication and change management to ensure alignment and successful adoption of new systems. + Promote adoption of technologies to improve efficiency, data integrity and regulatory compliance. + Provide strategic guidance and subject matter expertise on research business processes and compliance frameworks. + Ensure technology solutions align with regulatory requirements from NIH, FDA, HIPAA, IACUC and IRB oversight bodies. + Partner with other functional areas in IT to leverage existing platforms, infrastructure, tools and services. + Perform other duties as assigned in support of the institution’s research mission. **About Us** **Strength through Unity and Inclusion** The Mount Sinai Health System is committed to fostering an environment where everyone can contribute to excellence.
