Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System for Florence Kentucky location.  This includes the Customer Quality Systems, Quality Labs, QMS System, Warranty System, and overall Quality from the assembly operations of EPS, rack bar manufacturing and steering columns. This position has functional responsibility with VM/QMM-PI-NA and disciplinary to FleP/PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that the established procedures and processes meet the requirements of the IATF16949 Quality Management System Standard and all relevant Customer Specific Requirements.Perform duties as the Management Representative for the Quality Management System.Report to Upper Management the implementation level and performance of the Quality Management System.Lead Management Review process for Florence, KY - North AmericaMonthly Quality Reviews and Quarterly Management ReviewsEstablish Targets and Goals for the Business Unit Quality Managers that best support the Business Unit Quality GoalsEnsure effective implementation of the Quality System in all Business Units and support departmentsDevelop Resource plan for Quality Support for each Business Unit (Quality Engineers, APQP Engineers, Customer Service Engineers, QE Techs, Quality Techs, Warranty Engineers)Develop overall Quality Strategy for Bosch Florence.Assign responsibilities/tasks to direct and indirect reports to realize the strategySupport Bosch Vehicle Motion Worldwide Quality objectivesLead implementation efforts at Vehicle motion North AmericaProvide Monthly Reports to Corporate Quality (Sgm) and North America Quality Performance and significant Customer issuesEnsure proper training level of Quality Resources to meet Company and Customer needsInternal Auditor training, Customer APQP Requirements, Customer PPAP RequirementsEnsure adequate knowledge of the Customer Quality PortalsDevelop Resource plan for Liaison Representative coverage at applicable Customer Assembly PlantsProcess Owner for the Corrective Action ProcessEstablish standards for Root Cause Analysis, Robust Corrective Actions, Verification activities, and Prevent Recurrence activitiesProcess Owner for Preventive Action ProcessEstablish processes to meet IATF16949 Preventive Action requirementsLead Bosch Florence’s support of the Corporate Quality Read Across process (Yokoten)Process Owner for Monitoring and Measurement Devices ProcessPlan for proper resources to support Company’s Calibration needs and ensure timely completion of Calibration activitiesProcess Owner for the Internal Audit ProcessEstablish process to meet IAFT16949 Internal Auditing requirementsLead Bosch Florence Support of Corporate Quality Internal Audit effortsMaintain Bosch Florence Layered Process Confirmation systemEstablish Product Audit SystemLead effort to implement Corporate Quality DirectivesEnsure timely reporting by Business Unit Quality Managers of Management Reports and monthly Quality Performance to Corporate QualityEnsure Business Unit Quality Managers properly prepare the Business Units for Quality Related AuditsEstablish processes to reduce / eliminate Customer Complaints and Official RejectsEnsure Customer Complaints are responded to in an appropriate manner – responses in a timely manner, professional presentations, clear and accurate information, etc.Provide Leadership for Data Analysis techniques to reduce process variation (SPC, etc.)Ensure Measurement and Destructive Testing Labs are adequately staffed to meet Business Unit needsEnsure proper measurement equipment is available to support ProductionEnsure Receiving Inspection turn-around time meets Production needsEnsure proper Contamination capabilities are availableEnsure Measurement and Metallurgical Labs are adequately staffed to meet Business Unit needsEnsure proper equipment is available to support ProductionEnsure Receiving Inspection turn-around time meets Production needsEnsure proper Metallurgical capabilities are availableEnsure adequate IMDS reporting resources are availableEnsure Warranty Analysis capabilities and resources are kept up to required level to meet Customer expectationsEnsure adequate resources to meet Customer timeliness requirementsSupport Customer Warranty meetings and Customer Warranty PortalsResponsible for the establishment of the Quality Budget, and adherence to the Budget.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or University in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or Business Administration; Masters completion highly preferred; plus, seven to ten years of related experience and or training.  Experience should be gained in areas of engineering or technical operations and should include a minimum of five years in Quality Management leadership in automotive industry.  IATF16949 experience is highly required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and ABILITIES

Language Skills:

Advanced English language skills required.  German and/or Spanish Language skills a plus.

Mathematical Skills:

Advanced math skills including statistics required

Reasoning Ability:

Individual must have ability to make independent decisions that may be complex in nature. 

Computer Skills:

Must have advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Must be capable of learning other software packages (Ex: SAP, Axalant, Test Software).

Leadership Skills:

Demonstrated ability to create a vision to support achievement of the department’s mission. This would include understanding of strengths and weaknesses of the organization along with its challenges, defining the priorities and strategy to fulfill specific objectives of the mission, and motivating/supporting/developing/ leading their team to execute the proper plans to fulfill the mission.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

In depth experience with TS16949 and related Quality Standards required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Individual must possess the interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with coworkers, lead a large team of Salaried and Hourly associates, have the ability to solve complex problems, deal with very diverse issues and machine related concerns.  Individual must have the ability to work effectively within a global Matrix-based organization and with multi-cultural teams.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The ability to work in an office environment, which could include sitting or standing for the majority of the day.  Must be able to travel including some international travel.  Responsibilities include the need to lift, carry, push, and pull material on an infrequent basis.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
