The Director of Product Management plays a pivotal role in guiding the long-term vision and strategic direction of the organization and in the successful commercialization of new products in the markets. Take lead with sales, marketing, and cross functional support to ensure revenue, margin and customer satisfaction goals are met. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic and NPD initiatives to drive growth, improve efficiency, and maintain the organization's competitive edge in the market. The incumbent will collaborate closely with management, department heads, and key stakeholders to align strategies with overarching business objectives.

Key Accountabilities


•    Strategic Planning: Lead the development of the business unit’s strategic plan, and commercialization strategies for new products ensuring alignment with overall objectives of the organization. Drive the execution of strategic initiatives by coordinating cross-functional teams, allocating resources, and managing timelines. Ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the organization. Define growth strategies and play a key role in execution of those growth plans


•    Product vision and strategy: Define and execute the product vision and strategy to align with overall business objectives, market trends, and customer needs. Guide product managers in creating product roadmaps and overseeing release plans to translate strategy into actionable items for development teams. Drive product simplification by utilizing 80/20 approach


•    Competitive Intelligence & Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities & threats, customer needs and opportunities for product differentiation. Utilize insights to inform strategic decision-making & mitigating risk and  to inform product positioning and go-to-market strategies. Monitor competitor activities, market dynamics, and industry benchmarks to assess the competitive landscape. Develop strategies to capitalize on strengths and address weaknesses.


•    Organizational Alignment: Foster a culture of strategic thinking and alignment across departments and business units. Promote collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement to achieve strategic goals. Hire, train, and manage product managers, providing mentorship and career development support.


•    Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and channel partners. Build relationships, solicit feedback, and communicate strategic priorities effectively. Collaborate closely with product development, marketing, sales, operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of commercialization plans. Present product strategies, roadmaps, and key performance metrics to executive leadership and external stakeholders.


•    Business Development: Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities, including partnerships, acquisitions, and new market expansions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess feasibility and develop implementation plans.


•    Performance Measurement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track progress against strategic objectives and to track success of product commercialization efforts. Regularly assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and recommend corrective actions.


•    Customer Engagement: Engage with key customers, reps, opinion leaders, and stakeholders to gather feedback, validate product concepts, and identify unmet needs. Build relationships and gather insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.


•    Sales Enablement: Work closely with the sales team, product management and manufacturer reps to gather necessary requirements for sales enablement. Provide support and guidance to ensure sales readiness and effectiveness.


•    Channel Management: Identify and evaluate distribution channels, partners, and sales channels to maximize market reach and penetration. Develop channel strategies and partnerships to drive product adoption and revenue growth.

•    Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the commercialization team. Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains, and best practices implementation.


Qualifications/Requirements
•    Bachelor’s Degree required. An MBA is highly desired.  
•    8-12 years of results-oriented experience in an industrial marketing or industrial product management environment 
•    Proven success in development and execution of strategic roadmap by identifying and validating markets/verticals, define how to win commercially 
•    Demonstrated success in development and execution of product roadmap. 
•    Experience in Product Commercialization/NPI through leading a multi-functional team on the introduction of new products into the market.
