The Director of Product Management – Financial Planning will lead the strategy, evolution, and execution of Schwab’s enterprise financial planning platform—one of the most critical components of the client and advisor experience.
This role owns the end-to-end‑ product vision and roadmap for financial planning across Schwab, including advanced planning domains such as retirement, tax, and estate planning. You will lead a team of senior product managers, partner deeply with technology, design, and business leaders, and operate at a fast pace with high executive engagement to deliver scalable, modern, and integrated planning experiences that power Schwab’s advice offering.
What you’ll do:
As the Director of Product Management – Financial Planning, you will:
Own and articulate a clear product vision and multi‑year roadmap for Schwab’s financial planning capabilities across SchwabLead, coach, and develop a high performing team of senior product managers responsible for complex, enterprises cale product areasDrive integration of third-party planning solutions and advanced technologies (including GenAI enabled capabilities) while ensuring Schwab retains ownership of data and client experiencePartner closely with Technology, UX, Offer Management, and Business leaders to deliver intuitive, scalable, and advisor ready planning experiencesNavigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and executive‑level tradeoffs to drive timely, well‑reasoned product decisionsAssess client, advisor, and representative needs; identify gaps and opportunities; and translate insights into prioritized product initiativesDefine success metrics, business cases, and outcomes that demonstrate client and business impactLead with urgency, emotional intelligence, and strong partnership—moving fast while bringing stakeholders along the journey What you have
Required:
10+ years of experience in financial services, including wealth management, investment products, or advice-based platforms within large, complex organizationsDeep expertise in financial planning and advice domains (e.g., retirement income, tax strategy, estate planning, charitable giving, executive compensation)Proven people leadership experience, including leading senior level product managers, hiring, coaching, and developing high performing teamsDemonstrated executive presence, with the ability to influence, challenge, and partner effectively with senior leaders and demanding stakeholdersStrong product strategy, roadmap development, and execution skills in fast paced, high visibility environmentsAbility to synthesize complex data, client needs, and business priorities into clear product decisions and recommendationsExceptional collaboration and relationship building skills across product, technology, design, and business teamsHigh emotional intelligence with a leadership style that balances urgency, accountability, and strong partnership
Preferred:
