A well-established company in Kansas City is seeking a Director of Procurement to lead indirect procurement strategies and supplier management in a hybrid role, requiring residency in the Kansas City area. This position focuses on developing and executing procurement strategies, negotiating supplier contracts, driving cost-saving initiatives, and collaborating across functions to optimize procurement processes. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in category management and strategy, strong leadership skills, and expertise in contract negotiation, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management. Experience in business services, marketing & sales, utilities, and production is preferred, along with a background in large consumer packaged goods companies. A Master’s degree is desirable, and energy hedging experience is a plus. Job Description

As a Director of Procurement, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies for indirect materials and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and supplier partnerships. You will lead contract negotiations and manage procurement project pipelines while collaborating closely with finance for budget management. Your role will also focus on driving cost-savings programs, implementing new operating models, supporting sustainability efforts, and enhancing procurement processes through digitalization.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute category strategies for indirect materials and services, aligning with organizational goals.Conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in main spend categories.Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms for quality, cost, and supply assurance.Lead contract negotiations with largest suppliers, ensuring robust contracts that support long-term relationships.Ensure compliance with legal and organizational procurement strategies in contract terms.Collaborate across functions to support procurement requirements and build project pipelines.Oversee procurement price forecasting for utilities, collaborating with finance for alignment.Drive cost-savings programs through strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation.Collaborate on global initiatives and support the execution of responsible sourcing and sustainability projects.Implement supplier performance management and conduct regular performance reviews.Identify risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate supply interruptions.Lead, mentor, and develop a procurement team, fostering a high-performance environment.Essential SkillsStrong leadership and people management skills.Proven experience in procurement category management and strategic sourcing.Experience in business services, marketing & sales, production, building & utilities.Track record of driving cost savings initiatives and collaborating across functions.Ability to travel.Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 15 years of experience in category management and strategy.Minimum of 10 years of experience in various indirect procurement categories.Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.Additional Skills & QualificationsWorked in large consumer packaged goods companies, although not required.Hedging experience in energy.Master's degree.Experience in supply chain management.Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining remote and in-office work. The role requires effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and may involve occasional travel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $180000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
