You enjoy working with others, are results-driven, and are looking for a variety of opportunities to develop personally and professionally. **The Role** As the **Director of MEP Services – Lifestyle** , you will be a key member of the Design & Technical Services team, responsible for leading and coordinating all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) strategy and execution across new developments, hotel renovations, and capital improvement projects in Americas. Working closely with internal design leadership and external consultants, you will ensure that MEP systems support The Lifestyle Group’s brand ethos, design intent, and operational functionality throughout the project lifecycle. This role ladders into the design function and bridges the technical gap between conceptual design and on-site implementation. You will guide MEP planning in new builds, actively participate in design reviews, ensure long-term maintainability, and support seamless handover to hotel operations teams. Your goal is to ensure each property functions as beautifully as it looks. **Key Responsibilities** **_New Development / New Projects & Coordination with MEP Consultants and In-House Design Team_** Act as the primary liaison between internal design teams and external MEP consultants for new developments and major renovations. Translate design vision and guest experience goals into technically sound and efficient MEP solutions that support both aesthetics and functionality. Participate in early project phases (feasibility, LOI, schematic design) to shape MEP systems in alignment with building layout and energy performance targets. Lead MEP technical reviews, drawing coordination, and system validation across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety disciplines. Ensure MEP consultant deliverables meet design requirements, cost parameters, and sustainability objectives. Influence early decisions on system types (e.g., centralized HVAC vs. decentralized), water heating, ventilation strategies, and low-voltage integration to support design flexibility. **_Regular Review & Project Work with In-House Design Team_** Work as an embedded technical voice within the Design & Technical Services team to maintain design continuity through all development stages. Participate in design coordination meetings to ensure MEP systems integrate seamlessly with architectural, interior design, and brand requirements. Provide input on space planning for technical rooms (plant rooms, risers, service corridors) during early design phases. Support VE (value engineering) exercises from a design-lens — maintaining visual and guest experience quality while achieving technical efficiency. Identify and recommend MEP technologies that enhance sustainability, system performance, and long-term maintainability. **_CAPEX Work & Coordination with In-House Design Team_** Provide MEP design oversight for CAPEX and renovation projects across operating properties in partnership with the Design Team. Review scopes for infrastructure upgrades (e.g., chillers, electrical panels, BMS) ensuring design cohesion and lifecycle efficiency. Participate in five-year CAPEX planning from an MEP and design alignment perspective. Collaborate on RFPs and consultant selections, helping define MEP design briefs and technical standards for project execution. Ensure all CAPEX projects reflect The Standard’s commitment to progressive, sustainable design and operational resilience. **_Participating in Openings & Integrating On-Property Engineers_** Serve as the technical bridge between the design process and hotel engineering operations during new openings. Coordinate with the on-property Engineering team during late-stage construction and handover to ensure technical systems are understood and properly maintained. Oversee MEP commissioning, startup protocols, and documentation handover (O&M manuals, schematics, test certificates) in line with brand standards. Guide local Chief Engineers through the design intent behind MEP systems, ensuring ongoing maintenance practices preserve performance and aesthetics. Help train new hotel engineering teams on the functional design intent and system nuances specific to each property. Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required for project support **Qualifications:** **Required Skills & Qualifications** Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (Master’s preferred) 7–10 years’ experience in MEP design coordination or technical services, ideally within the hospitality, lifestyle, or mixed-use sectors Strong understanding of regional building codes, sustainability benchmarks, and cross-border project experience Proven experience translating architectural intent into executable, guest-centric engineering solutions Skilled in reading and marking up architectural and MEP drawings; experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or BIM platforms a plus Familiarity with luxury/lifestyle hospitality standards and technical brand guidelines _The salary range for this position is $147,250 - $162,750._ _The final pay rate/salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on experience, skill level and other qualifications for the role, as well as the location of the performance of work.
