The Standard hotels are known for their taste-making clientele, their pioneering design, and their unrelenting un-Standard-ness.
Mission Statement
To create experience by embracing and empowering a diverse collective of team members, collaborators, and guests, who choose to call The Standard home.
Our Purpose
The Standard’s commitment is to being an anchor for each neighbourhood in which we reside as well as a platform for culture and creativity. Bringing people together in its spaces to interact with each other in genuine ways.
Our promise is to ensure that a stay is an experience and that a memory means making friends and having stories to tell. To understand why it exists, is to understand that The Standard, is a platform for people to meet, to engage, to learn, to dine, to sleep, to dance, to hideaway, to make believe and to do so whilst being yourself and having fun doing it.
We think of ourselves as a stage, not just a hotel. Here, you can become whomever you like, even if for just a night. Here, you will meet new friends, find new challenges, eat new food, stay up late, sleep in later, and at times, never even leave the property. We are unapologetically comfortable with disrupting expectations. It’s WHO WE ARE!

Job Title
Director of Marketing & Culture
Property
The Standard, High Line
Job Purpose
The Director of Marketing & Culture is the on-property owner of brand, storytelling, visibility, and cultural relevance. This role leads all marketing, communications, programming support, and partnerships for the hotel, ensuring The Standard remains one of New York’s most culturally resonant hospitality destinations.
Equal parts strategist and operator, this person translates global brand direction into locally powerful execution — working closely with F&B, programming, PR, sales, and corporate brand teams to drive awareness, relevance, and revenue. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands how culture, creativity, and commerce intersect.
Key Responsibilities
Brand & Storytelling
Own the on-property expression of The Standard brand, ensuring all touchpoints are culturally sharp, visually strong, and on-brand. Lead local storytelling across digital, social, partnerships, PR moments, and on-property activations. Act as brand guardian for the property while confidently pushing creative ideas forward.
Marketing Strategy & Execution
Develop and execute the annual marketing plan aligned with hotel business goals across rooms, F&B, programming, and retail. Plan and manage the property marketing budget, ensuring strong ROI and creative ambition. Oversee campaign planning and execution across digital and social channels, content creation, email and CRM (in collaboration with corporate), and paid media where applicable.
Programming, Culture & Partnerships
Collaborate closely with F&B, nightlife, and programming teams to market events, residencies, and seasonal activations. Identify and develop local cultural partnerships across fashion, art, music, design, nightlife, and wellness that reinforce The Standard’s cultural relevance. Support PR moments and influencer strategies in partnership with corporate communications.
Communications & PR
Serve as the on-property lead for PR and communications, working with internal or external PR teams. Ensure consistent messaging across press, social, and partnerships, and identify proactive storytelling opportunities tied to the hotel, its people, and its programming.
Digital & Social
Oversee the hotel’s digital and social presence, ensuring a strong, authentic point of view. Brief, commission, and curate content that reflects both the brand and the unique energy of the High Line property. Track performance and optimize based on insights rather than vanity metrics.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with the GM and hotel leadership, F&B and nightlife teams, sales and revenue management, and Global Brand Marketing + Culture. Act as a connector, ensuring marketing is embedded in everything the hotel does rather than operating in a silo.
Food & Beverage Integration
Work closely with culinary and operations teams to align marketing with menu launches, seasonal offerings, and special events. Leverage food and beverage trends to create compelling campaigns that attract and retain guests. Ensure brand presentation in all F&B touchpoints meets quality and aesthetic standards.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the on-property marketing team, including direct reports and freelancers. Manage creative agencies, photographers, designers, and production partners as needed. Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and high standards.
Experience & Qualifications
8–12+ years of marketing experience, ideally within hospitality, lifestyle brands, fashion, culture, or entertainment. Proven experience in a property-level or city-led marketing role with strong local activation. Deep understanding of New York culture — nightlife, media, fashion, arts, and the creative community. Strong creative instincts paired with operational rigor. Experience managing budgets, agencies, and multiple stakeholders. Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills. Comfort operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
