Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Ensure that Silvus always operates within the law, offers counsel on legal issues, serves as an effective guardian of the organization, and facilitates business development. The successful candidate will be able to manage the impact of external factors and limit risk exposure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and lead the product and commercial legal strategy for Silvus, embracing opportunities while balancing risk and ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements both within the commercial and the DoD sector.
Responsible for overseeing all legal matters pertaining to the organization, with a focus on product, commercial and regulatory, as well as the coordination of any legal matters handled by outside counsel.
Lead and develop the direct Silvus legal team, as well as coordinate cross-functionally across stakeholder groups, in order to support the growing legal needs of the Silvus business.
Oversee all matters pertaining to the company’s Facilities Clearance and other security clearance related matters.
Develop functional plans for managing legal matters, including activities to be performed in-house or through third-party relationships to best manage the company’s legal and compliance activities and minimize risk for the business.
Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret agreements covering a range of commercial activities, including advertising sales, data processing, consumer and business product terms, online platform terms, and partner/vendor agreements.
Plan and implement internal policies and procedures related to legal, compliance and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations along with those outlined in DoD FAR and DFARs and advocate for compliance via direct interactions with the rank and file.
Work across the business to provide legal expertise, structuring transactions, initiatives, and partnerships while demonstrating practical business judgment.
As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with top academic credentials.
Required Experience: Ability to draft and negotiate complex strategic partnership service agreements, sales agreements, licenses, and custom development agreements.
Minimum 8 years of work experience as an attorney for private law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
Strong understanding of technology and law, with a strong understanding of communications and/or defense products.
Strong business acumen and high professional ethics.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong passion to learn new things.
Understanding of government acquisition regulations including in the FAR and DFARs.
Organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Focused on achieving business objectives, creative problem solving, and employing a growth-mindset, while defining and supporting a responsible, strategic, compliant, and ethical approach to business challenges.
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident due to clients under U.S. government contracts. Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.
Active member of a State Bar Association with authorization to practice within the state in which the employee works.
Target Base Salary Range: $190,000 - $250,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
