D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Director of Land Development. The right candidate will work closely with the Division President to develop raw land and deliver lots for building communities to meet the established goals in the division’s business plan. Manages the installation of community infrastructure within budget and time constraints.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform the obligations and signature duties required by the elected office stated in the Corporate Authority resolutionsCollaborate with the Land Development team to complete cost estimates, lot densities, development schedules and identify risk during due diligence required in the submittal package for corporate approvalInterface with Land Department staff during due diligence to verify the checklist is completed from contract phase through post-closing phaseLead teams in all aspects of community development including design, planning, engineering and developmentSolicit, analyze and meet with contractors for bids on new development projectsNegotiate and finalize contracts with contractorsCreate budgets for the construction of entrances, lots, amenities and associated infrastructure for D.R. Horton communities, including roads, drainage, water, sewer and landscapingOversee the activities of land planners, engineers, consultants, government officials and trade partners in the execution of land development tasks on time and at budgetReview preliminary plats and revisions for final plat recordationPerform final walks with local authorities for street, water/sewer acceptance and secure bond releaseDevelop and adhere to the division’s land development schedule and budget for each project and provide regular updates to the Division PresidentEnsure active and quality communication is established and maintained with other internal departments regarding the status of future projectsProvide leadership to the Land Development team including overall people management, talent identification, recruiting, and employee developmentMonitor budgets on each phase of development, and continually review all accounting relative to land development including cash flow projectionsAssume the primary responsibility for Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP)Develop, a positive teamwork and achievement-oriented culture with staff, consultants, and contractorsMonitor work for legal and regulatory complianceEstablish and maintain positive working relationships with government authoritiesConducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnightSalary range $160,000-$180,000 quarterly bonus
