Job Description
As a Director of Laboratory Operations, you will oversee and guide laboratory staff, ensuring efficient department operations while maintaining high-quality standards. This role involves strategic planning, budgeting, and project management to meet laboratory goals.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain final responsibility for turn-around time in assigned department(s).Provide oversight and guidance to laboratory staff and ensure competent personnel.Monitor staff productivity and workload, adjusting scheduling with supervisors.Administer proficiency testing and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.Prepare and present proposals for new instrumentation alongside supervisory staff.Identify and monitor costs related to department operations, assisting in budget development.Collaborate on projects, preparing requirements, and providing status reports.Work on method selection and verification and ensure effective remedial and corrective actions.Develop operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures with laboratory leadership.Ensure compliance with training and competency policies, and maintain professional knowledge.Identify and develop personnel with leadership potential, providing regular updates.Schedule and lead meetings related to laboratory projects and operations.Establish policies and procedures for technical areas of the laboratory.Solve technical problems and ensure overall laboratory quality, including quality control and assurance.Lead efforts to develop systems for performance objectives and participate in proficiency testing.Ensure records are up to date and available for inspection, and review quality control for trends.Essential SkillsProficiency in CLIA, Excel, Lean Six Sigma, Clinical Laboratory operations.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Knowledge of Microbiology, Medical Technology, Molecular Biology.Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.Ph.D., MS, or BS in Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, Biological science.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in Lean/Six Sigma preferred.Ability to learn and utilize laboratory information systems.Strong communication, motivational, technical, human relations, conceptual, and decision-making skills.Work Environment
This role requires working in an environment with biohazards, toxic chemicals, pungent odors, corrosive acids, noise, sharp objects, and other hazards typical of a clinical laboratory. Laboratory safety measures and protective equipment are provided to minimize exposure risks. The physical demands include sitting, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing, occasionally standing and walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
Benefits would be available to them after they complete their time through protouch and would have a waiting/probationary period of 60 days once they are a Genova employee. Once they meet their 60-day waiting period with Genova they are eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits. We offer PPO and HDP plans through Aetna.
After 90 days of employment through Genova you are eligible for 401k. There is an employer contribution. For each dollar you contribute, Genova will match dollar for dollar up to a maximum of 3% and $0.50 on the dollar for the next 2% of compensation. That is 100% vested.
Vacation- When employees are hired, they begin accruing vacation at a rate of 3.08 hours per pay period and up to 80 hours per year.
Personal Leave- Employees will receive personal leave after 6 months of employment. Full time employees will receive 40 hours.
Holidays-After 60 days employees are eligible for paid holidays. The company’s seven paid holidays are: New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
