Director of Instructional Equity and Innovation JobID: 5363 + Position Type: Administrative - Certified + Date Posted: 12/8/2025 + Location: District Office + Closing Date: 01/04/2026 Director of Instuctional Equity and Innovation Reports To: Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Salary: $100,000.00 minimum per GASA contract Location: District Office Description The Director of Instructional Equity and Innovation will serve as a knowledgeable staff employee, lead implementer, and institutional resource for improving instructional equity, fostering inclusion and celebrating diversity across the District. This pivotal role combines the strategic leadership of equity initiatives with the planning, facilitation, and implementation of the New York State Portrait of a Graduate initiative. Working in collaboration with administrators, this position will support the strategic vision for student success as described in the current REACH 2027 Strategic Plan as well as future strategic plans. The Director will act as a catalyst for change, ensuring that the District's graduates are not only academically prepared but also creative innovators, critical thinkers, and global citizens. Required Qualifications Certification: Must possess a valid New York State administrative certificate (SDL/SDA). Experience: Minimum 5 years of administrative experience Data Skills: Proven experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making. Collaborative Leadership: The capacity to bring people together, listen actively, and build partnerships that foster trust and collective responsibility. Professional Learning Communities: Deep knowledge and experience leading DuFour's PLCs Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with diverse audiences, facilitate difficult conversations, and advocate for equity Systemic Change: Ability to lead district-wide initiatives, inspire stakeholders, and drive systemic change toward equity goals. Key Responsibilities Instructional Innovation & the NYS Portrait of a Graduate Lead the Portrait of a Graduate Initiative: Work collaboratively with the GCSD Instructional Leadership Team to plan, facilitate, and implement the NYS Portrait fo a Graduate initiative, ensuring all students develop the six key attributes: Academically Prepared, Creative Innovator, Critical Thinker, Effective Communicator, Global Citizen, and Reflective/Future Focused. Facilitate the shift toward "Integrated Student-Centered Learning" by aligning the Portrait of a Graduate with the NYS Learning Standards, the NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining (CR-S) Framework, and the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) benchmarks. Equitable Outcomes: Strategically gather and use stakeholder feedback to develop and implement an effective model for integrating school and district systems to foster and monitor more equitable student outcomes. Curriculum Alignment: Collaborate with GCSD stakeholders to integrate culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy into curriculum and instructional practices, ensuring diverse student experiences are valued. Support curriculum development in alignment with the NYS CR-S Education Framework. Professional Learning & District Improvement Professional Learning: Lead Culturally Responsive Education training to meet District needs and integrate seamlessly with district and school improvement work. Establish and facilitate equity programming and professional development for various stakeholder groups. Support the development of professional learning that aligns with equitable classroom and leadership practices. PLC Integration: Embed instructional equity and innovation practices, including the NYS Portrait of a Graduate attributes, into Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support continuous school improvement. Equity Leadership & Student Empowerment Student Agency: Develop and implement student voice initiatives that foster a sense of belonging, develop an ability to connect across cultures, and promote agency among all student groups. Event Coordination: Lead the coordination of district-wide celebratory events, including the ROC2Change Student Summit. Data-Informed Decision Making: Collect and analyze data on student academic and behavioral outcomes by race, ethnicity, and other factors to identify disparities and guide decision-making. Support school-based processes in utilizing school data to create targeted improvement plans. Community & Staff Engagement Recruitment & Retention: Work with the Department of Human Resources to develop structures for the recruitment, support, and retention of diverse faculty and staff. Partner with HR to minimize bias in hiring practices and attract a wider pool of diverse candidates. Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with faculty, staff, students, parents, board members, and community partners to review school policies as they pertain to equity and inclusion. Conflict Resolution: Collaborate with the Department of Human Resources and school leadership to address incidents of bias, racism, discrimination, or harassment in schools promptly and effectively, implementing restorative practices and other conflict resolution strategies as appropriate.
