Overview The Director of Imaging Services will collaborate with the AVP of Imaging & Cancer Care Services, Imaging Services Chairman, and Section Supervisors, assist in the management of the overall administrative, financial, clinical, operational, and regulatory functionality of the Department of Imaging Services. The Director serves as a role model and leader for imaging employees and others within and outside the organization; ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups from neonate to geriatric; maintains strong, open communication within the department and hospital units to ensure effective workflow; and conducts themselves in support of the mission of Catholic Health Services and Good Samaritan University Hospital. Job Details Responsibilities: Responsible for management of staff, including hiring, coaching, counseling and addressing performance issues Encourages and involves others; facilitates decision-making. Works to create an environment that fosters individual respect and encourages employees to contribute their talents to the goals of the department and organization. Promotes and communicates commitment, values, and ethics within the department. Provides assistance and counseling to staff in meeting performance standards and goals, fosters independence, motivation, continued development, and morale. Fosters effective employee communication by conducting regular staff meetings/huddles. Collaborates with staff to resolve issues and address concerns Provides staff education with an emphasis on the organizational performance quality improvement program. Ensures the department’s policies and procedures are current and up-to-date. Initiates and implements improved methods of workflow for imaging services. Communicates effectively with physicians, support staff, and administration. Interacts professionally with patients/families. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Conducts assessments of imaging equipment needs, acquisitions, installations, use, and decommissions. Assists in oversight of equipment service contract and purchase order renewals of the department. Oversees the evaluation of products, supplies, and space as it pertains to capital equipment. Makes recommendations for modifications when appropriate. Ensures compliance and final documentation of Joint Commission and other mandated clinical certifying agencies. Assists in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the department multi-modality operational budget. Exhibits a leadership role in planning, organizing, and developing the department’s capital budget specific to each modality. Exhibits leadership behaviors and assumes a liaison role with other departments to ensure ongoing lines of communication and quality of improvement activities. Keeps abreast in new developments in imaging. Champions continuing educations programs with a focus toward developing and implementing competencies as defined by the Joint Commission, ARRT, and other monitoring organizations. Ensures medications and contrast media are stored safely in a locked area. Ensures preventative maintenance of equipment. Investigates and troubleshoots specific data entry and exam ordering issues within all imaging modalities, working closely with staff, management, and the IT team. Investigates and handles cases of misidentification and exam errors. Initiates, interprets, and enforces department and hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation to patients. Responsible for scheduling of CT and diagnostic staff to efficiently cover shifts 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week. Assists with the facilitation of the yearly inspection by NYS DOH relative to radiation licensure. Maintains or appoints a designee to maintain accurate QC logs, service records, etc. Monitors quality review activities, noting trends and making recommendations to correct any deficiencies. Appropriately handles patient and employee complaints in a timely manner. Performs appropriate follow-up to incidents reported in MIDAS. Prepares the department for, and participates in, inspections/surveys/accreditations (i.e. ACR, Joint Commission, NYS DOH, etc.). Assists in the oversight of overall ordering of departmental supplies to ensure budgetary compliance. Requirements: Graduate of an AMA approved radiology school. Bachelor’s Degree in related health discipline or business administration, required; Master’s Degree, preferred. Licensed in NYS, ARRT certified, and CPR certified. Must maintain a minimum of 24 Category A CME credits every two years. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with leadership qualities. Knowledge of patient positioning, imaging techniques, and special procedures. Knowledgeable in Outlook, Star, Epic, and PACS, preferred. 7+ year’s fulltime experience as radiographer and 5+ years supervisory/managerial experience. Salary Range USD $180,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr.
