The Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic business partner to General Managers and executive leadership teams The role provides guidance, direction, and hands-on leadership in all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, workforce planning, associate engagement, training and development, compensation strategy, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
This position ensures consistency of HR standards, brand culture, and legal compliance while developing future leaders and building strong associate relations programs that support luxury service delivery.
Job Duties and Functions
Provide strategic HR leadership
Partner with General Managers and Executive Committees to align people strategies with business goals and operational performance.
Lead workforce planning initiatives to ensure the right talent is in place to support occupancy, service standards, and revenue objectives.
Guide organizational design, succession planning, and leadership development
Lead and oversee all HR activities including recruitment planning, onboarding design, orientation programs, and culture-building initiatives.
Support implementation of HR systems, payroll processes, benefits administration, and time & attendance systems.
Develop training frameworks and associate engagement programs that establish Hyatt’s service culture from day one.
Oversee recruitment strategy for exempt and non-exempt positions.
Develop talent pipelines and recruitment partnerships.
Ensure leadership development, performance management, and succession planning processes are in place and effective.
Support executive recruitment and leadership onboarding.
Oversee wage and salary administration, ensuring competitive and equitable compensation practices aligned with market benchmarks and brand standards.
Guide benefits strategy including health insurance, pension, and associate wellness programs.
Partner with Finance to prepare and manage HR budgets and labor forecasting.
Champion Hyatt’s culture of care, inclusion, and belonging across all properties.
Provide coaching and guidance to leadership teams on employee relations matters, investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
Ensure associate engagement initiatives and feedback mechanisms (e.g., Associate Opinion Surveys) are effectively implemented and actioned.
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and service-driven work environment that reflects luxury hospitality standards.
Oversee training strategy including orientation, compliance training, service culture programs, and leadership development.
Support career development pathways and internal promotion strategies.
Ensure properties maintain strong onboarding, mentoring, and advancement programs.
Maintain expert knowledge of labor laws and employment regulations within the Cayman Islands employment legislation.
Oversee compliance related to immigration/work permits, health insurance, pensions, worker’s compensation, and employment standards.
Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
Guide internal audits, reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance efforts.
Supervise and develop property HR leaders and teams.
Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of personnel records and HR documentation.
Monitor and analyze turnover statistics, engagement data, and workforce trends to inform strategic decisions.
Prepare and submit required HR and labor reports.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Professional HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in hospitality, with at least 3+ years as an HR Director, preferably in luxury or upscale hotel environments. Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR practices within the Cayman Islands is highly desirable. Experience leading diverse, multicultural teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR systems. Strong financial acumen with experience managing HR budgets and labor planning.
Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Strong and confident public speaking skills. Flexibility to adapt work schedules and travel as required to support operational business needs. Must be able to live and work in Cayman Islands.SALARY
Salary will be commensurate with experience and in the range of US125,000 to US160,000
