Description
Our client, a rapidly growing, financially stable energy company is looking for a Director of Financial Reporting. This highly visible and challenging position will oversee the preparation and accuracy of consolidated financial statements while ensuring adherence to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role involves collaborating across departments to facilitate timely and compliant financial reporting, analyzing complex accounting and technical issues, and supporting organizational growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise and leadership skills to guide the financial reporting function effectively.
Responsibilities:
+ Manage the creation and review of monthly financial consolidations and company-wide financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and footnote preparation.
+ Take the lead on technical accounting research and documentation
+ Perform variance analysis on financial statements and report fluctuations to leadership.
+ Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP along with other regulatory and reporting requirements.
+ Assess revenue and lease agreements for accurate accounting treatment and document technical conclusions.
+ Analyze, adopt, and implement changes related to new accounting standards and pronouncements.
+ Collaborate on month-end close processes by assisting in the preparation and recording of journal entries.
+ Act as the primary point of contact with external auditors.
+ Support initiatives such as ERP system implementations and other special projects.
+ Exhibit professionalism in all communication forms and interactions.
+ Handle additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Please note that this Director of Financial Reporting role is an individual contributor to start but will be building up this department and group from the ground floor. This role is 3-4 days/week in Rockville, MD. The ideal candidate for this Director of Financial Reporting will have a CPA, 10+ years of either public accounting (audit) or public/private mix with advanced technical accounting skills and consolidated financial statements. The compensation range for this role is 170-200K in base salary + bonus. Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles.
• Proficiency in preparing and consolidating financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Experience with accounting standards such as ASC 606 and ASC 842.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
