This position provides leadership and direction for the overall operation of the Diagnostic Imaging department. Plans, directs and coordinates the development of short- and long-range objectives and is responsible for achieving the department's financial and non-financial goals. Coordinates functions to provide maximum level of services to patients, evaluates practices, analyzes trends, evaluates equipment, oversees performance improvement projects, oversees training of staff and ensures that the department is in compliance with all regulatory requirements and policies.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. As a member of a senior management team, responsible for contributing to the development and execution of strategies and goals for the division.
2. Demonstrates effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination in managing the daily operations of departments within the incumbent’s area responsibility.
3. Develops, recommends, monitors, and manages operating budgets to optimize financial performance.
4. Develops and utilizes performance metrics to continually improve quality and operating efficiency.
5. Ensures adequate skills training and development among staff. Provides and encourages effective coaching.
6. Ensures a high degree of teamwork among employees and managers, and between departments.
7. Communicates ideas and goals clearly and is an effective listener. Ensures that information is effectively communicated and shared throughout the organization. Fosters constructive feedback.
8. Maintains a current knowledge of trends and techniques in the field of management as well as of the incumbent’s area of specialization.
9. Fosters process improvements for greater operating efficiency and patient/customer service.
10. Supports the Hospital’s commitment to community affairs. Encourages employee involvement in community organization.
III. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Graduate of an accredited radiological technology program.
3. Current registration by the ARRT.
4. Current license by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health: Radiation Control Program.
5. Current CPR certification.
Preferred:
1. Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration .
Experience/Skill:
Required:
1. Extensive knowledge of Radiology procedures, practices, regulations and trends in the industry.
2. Ability to manage programs and human resources.
3. Strong knowledge of JCAHO/TJC requirements and regulatory programs.
4. Ability to lead, guide and direct staff.
5. Outstanding organizational and communication skills.
6. Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English.
Preferred:
1. Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Radiology Technologist in more than one modality and 5 years in a supervisory/managerial job.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
