Position Summary

Join a dynamic team committed to integrity, excellence, and student-athlete success. Under the leadership of the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance, the Director of Compliance plays a vital role in ensuring adherence to NCAA regulations through proactive monitoring and engaging educational initiatives.

As the primary compliance liaison for several sports—currently including Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Swimming, Baseball, Softball, Women’s Water Polo, Men’s and Women’s Tennis—you’ll also serve in a secondary role for Football. These assignments may evolve to meet departmental needs. Additionally, you will take the lead in managing eligibility compliance in partnership with the certifying officer and student services coordinator, while offering guidance to coaches and staff on all matters related to compliance protocols.

Responsibilities include:

Developing and delivering compliance training and educational resources for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and external stakeholders.

Interpreting NCAA and conference rules and maintaining an open-door policy for real-time guidance.

Overseeing systems to ensure institutional accountability and continuous improvement.

Supporting investigations and self-reporting processes in a confidential, solution-oriented manner.

Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment.

This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.

Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications

Experience with writing correspondence

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with a broad spectrum of people

Software: MS Word and Excel, Outlook

Experience with NCAA’s LSDBi and RSRO systems, as well as Teamworks software

Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Progress towards or completion of graduate or advanced degree

At least 1 year experience working in an NCAA compliance office is preferred

Basic knowledge of NCAA, conference, and SDSU rules

Previous experience as an NCAA student-athlete or past internships within an NCAA athletics department

Ability to organize and plan work and projects

Ability to create and maintain a database, track information, and report statistics.

Licenses/Certifications Required

Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire
