Job Description

The Director of Business Development leads the growth of construction and environmental health and safety (EH&S) service offerings by developing new business opportunities and expanding relationships with existing customers. This role focuses on selling large, multi-million-dollar service engagements, building a strong sales pipeline, and closing complex deals across manufacturing, construction, and EH&S markets.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a strategic business development plan to grow construction and EH&S services across targeted industries.Identify, prospect, and qualify new customers through outside sales activities, including onsite client visits, networking, and industry outreach.Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact and needs assessment through proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure.Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders at client organizations.Collaborate with internal engineering and service delivery teams to shape solutions that meet customer needs and align with organizational capabilities.Structure and present complex deals, including multi-million-dollar contracts, in a way that balances customer requirements and business objectives.Use CRM systems to track leads, opportunities, activities, and pipeline progress, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.Monitor market trends and competitor activity in manufacturing, construction, and EH&S sectors to identify new business opportunities.Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations, proposals, and supporting documentation to prospective and existing clients.Travel regularly to client sites to strengthen relationships, understand onsite conditions, and support successful project initiation.Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, revenue goals, and performance metrics.Provide ongoing feedback to leadership on customer needs, market dynamics, and potential areas for service expansion.Essential SkillsAt least 8 years of experience in an outside sales role.Proven experience selling services or solutions in manufacturing, construction, or environmental health and safety (EH&S) environments.Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of deal structures and revenue models.Demonstrated success managing complex, high-value sales cycles and closing large deals.Experience working with CRM systems to manage leads, opportunities, and sales activities.Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.Willingness and ability to travel regularly to client sites as required by the role.Additional Skills & QualificationsBackground in construction, manufacturing, or EH&S services is highly desirable.Experience selling engineering or technical services is a plus.Comfort working with multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering and operations.Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple opportunities simultaneously.Self-motivated, results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid work environment that combines time in the office with remote work flexibility. The position requires regular travel to client sites for meetings, presentations, and relationship development, particularly within manufacturing, construction, and EH&S settings. You will work closely with internal engineering and service teams, leveraging CRM tools and standard office technology to manage your pipeline and reporting. The work involves a mix of strategic planning, in-person client interaction, and collaborative coordination with cross-functional teams. The compensation structure includes a commission component based on recognized revenue and engineering services, offering significant earning potential on multi-million-dollar deals, along with additional benefits such as a gas card to support travel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
