Role Overview GSK is seeking an accomplished Director of Automation Platforms to lead and expand our platform engineering capabilities for enterprise automation tools, including Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Platform. This leader will manage a team of platform engineers responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and optimizing automation platforms that enable scalable, efficient, and intelligent automation solutions across the organization. As the Director of Automation Platforms, you will define the long-term vision for GSK’s automation platforms, establish governance frameworks, and create operational models to ensure seamless scalability, security, and compliance. You will oversee capabilities within Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Platform, including tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio, ensuring centralized engineering support for these platforms. Additionally, you will focus on integrating AI-driven technologies and low-code/no-code automation toolsets into automation platforms to enable developers to create intelligent and adaptive automation solutions that maximize business impact. The ideal candidate will also bring a strong background in cloud engineering, with proficiency in Microsoft Azure, to ensure automation platforms are designed for scalability, performance, and integration within cloud-based ecosystems. This role demands strong leadership skills to mentor and manage a diverse team of technical experts, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the strategy for GSK’s enterprise automation platforms, aligning long-term business objectives with the transformative potential of automation technologies. Platform Engineering: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust automation platforms, ensuring high availability, scalability, and adaptability to meet evolving business needs. Automation Anywhere Expertise: Oversee the engineering, optimization, and adoption of Automation Anywhere across the enterprise, ensuring the platform enables reliable and scalable robotic process automation (RPA) solutions. Power Platform Expertise: Manage capabilities within Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio, ensuring that automation developers can efficiently build and deploy solutions using these tools. Low-Code/No-Code Enablement: Drive the adoption and optimization of low-code/no-code automation toolsets, ensuring seamless functionality and empowering automation developers to create rapid, scalable solutions. AI Integration: Enable integration of AI-driven technologies into automation platforms, ensuring intelligent functionality for automation developers and facilitating the creation of adaptive automation solutions. Cloud Engineering: Provide expertise in Microsoft Azure, ensuring automation platforms are architected for scalability, reliability, and security within cloud environments. Develop strategies for cloud-based integrations and performance optimization. Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing team of platform engineers skilled in Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Power Platform, and cloud engineering. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Engineering Leadership: Provide oversight and mentorship to engineering teams responsible for maintaining and optimizing automation platforms, ensuring alignment with best practices and standards. Governance Frameworks: Establish and enforce governance and compliance standards specific to automation platforms, ensuring security, data integrity, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Enterprise Software Engineering, Architecture, and business teams to drive platform adoption, integration, and optimization across the organization. Lifecycle Ownership: Oversee the lifecycle management of automation platforms, including platform design, development, deployment, upgrades, and ongoing optimization. Automation Delivery: Enable streamlined automation delivery across business units by providing secure, scalable, and well-governed platforms that facilitate the creation and deployment of automation solutions. Tool Integration: Drive integration of automation platforms with adjacent technologies such as cognitive services, APIs, and generative AI tools to maximize impact and efficiency. Financial Management: Manage budgets, financial models, and ROI tracking for automation platform investments, collaborating with governance and business teams. Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 18 years of experience in technology or automation management roles, with proven expertise in platform engineering and automation delivery. Extensive experience managing enterprise-scale automation platforms such as Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio capabilities. Proven ability to manage engineering teams, particularly those responsible for platform design, optimization, and support. Proficiency in enabling low-code/no-code automation toolsets to empower automation developers. Strong expertise in cloud engineering, particularly in Microsoft Azure, with experience in architecting scalable and secure cloud-based solutions. Proficiency in enabling AI technologies within automation platforms to work seamlessly for automation developers. Extensive exposure to delivery models involving supplier and offshore resources. Experience working in regulated industries is preferred Skills: Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of automation technologies, including RPA platforms, low-code/no-code tools, APIs, cognitive services, and generative AI integrations. Automation Anywhere Proficiency: Strong understanding of Automation Anywhere with the ability to oversee teams managing and optimizing the platform for enterprise RPA delivery. Power Platform Proficiency: Strong understanding of Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio, with the ability to oversee technical teams supporting these technologies. Low-Code/No-Code Enablement: Expertise in driving the adoption and optimization of low-code/no-code automation tools to empower developers for rapid solution creation. Cloud Engineering: Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, with experience in architecting, deploying, and optimizing cloud-based platforms and integrations. AI Enablement: Proven ability to integrate AI technologies into automation platforms, ensuring intelligent functionality that enhances the developer experience and enables adaptive automation solutions. Platform Engineering: Proven ability to design, deploy, and manage large-scale automation platforms, ensuring high performance and reliability. Governance Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of governance frameworks, security standards, and compliance protocols for enterprise automation platforms. Leadership: Exceptional ability to lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams, including geographically dispersed and matrixed teams. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive organizational change. Project Management: Proficiency in Agile and waterfall methodologies for managing complex projects. Problem-Solving: Innovative and data-driven approach to addressing technical and organizational challenges. Business Process Optimization: Expertise in business process modeling, BPM tools, and workflow redesign to enable scalable automation solutions. Integration Expertise: Experience integrating automation platforms with broader ecosystems, including AI-driven tools and cognitive services.
