Masters Lycoming College is hiring a Director of AthleticsThe Director of Athletics is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to all of Lycoming College’s intercollegiate athletic programs as an NCAA Division III institution. The Director of Athletics reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs & Success, emphasizes the recruitment and development of student-athletes, compliance with NCAA regulations, Title IX , strategic oversight of coaches and programs, fundraising initiatives and working with the student affairs team to integrate athletics into the broader campus community.

What will I do in this role? Strategic Leadership and Program Administration: Provide visionary leadership for the athletic department, developing and implementing a strategic plan that aligns with institutional goals. Administer all athletic programs within NCAA Division III philosophy, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring ethical practices and competitive success. Consistently explore the opportunity to add programs in support of institutional enrollment goals. Recruitment and Student-Athlete Development: Oversee the recruitment of diverse, high-caliber student-athletes across all sports, emphasizing academic fit and personal growth. Promote student-athlete welfare through academic support, leadership training, and life skills development. Supervision and Personnel Management: Supervise coaching staff, support personnel, and student workers. Recruit, select, evaluate, and mentor coaches and staff, promoting professional development, and a collaborative team environment. Prioritize and model the balance between rigorous academics and athletics to keep student-athletes on track for graduation, minimizing conflicts between the academic program and athletics. Align athletic programs with the College's educational mission and support student athletes’ engagement as vital members of a residential campus community. Provide Competitive Opportunities and a Culture of Success: Advocate and prioritize high quality athletic experiences to attract and retain student athletics who prioritize excellence in the classroom and in their chosen sports. Demonstrate a commitment to excellence through student integrity, team and individual championships at the conference and national level, and a broader commitment to the connection between high quality athletics and a premier academic institution. Fundraising and Resource Development: Lead fundraising efforts to support athletic programs, including donor cultivation, grant applications, alumni engagement, and partnerships with external stakeholders. Set and achieve annual fundraising goals to enhance facilities, scholarships, and operational budgets and provide strategic support of the Warrior Club Athletics Council. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with NCAA Division III rules, Title IX gender equity requirements, and institutional policies. Conduct regular audits, training sessions, and reporting on compliance matters, including eligibility, equity in participation opportunities, and treatment of student-athletes. Manage risk by providing adequate medical care, injury prevention programs, and insurance coordination. Facility Oversight and Use Maximization: Working closely with the VP for Finance and Administration and the buildings and grounds team, ensure that athletic facilities are managed effectively and efficiently. Create new revenue opportunities for better utilization of campus facilities and coaches hosting summer camp programs. Budget and Operations Management: Prepare, manage, and monitor the athletic department budget. In partnership with other administrators in athletics, arrange schedules, travel, and logistics for all sports. Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and reconditioning of equipment and facilities. Integration into Campus Life: Foster integration of athletics with academic and student life initiatives, collaborating with faculty, student affairs, and other departments to enhance campus engagement. Promote events that build school spirit, community outreach, and inclusiveness, ensuring athletics contributes to the overall student experience and institutional retention efforts. Public Relations and Community Engagement: Represent the athletic department in public relations efforts, including media interactions, event promotions, and stakeholder communications. Enhance the use of technology and promotion of programs to burnish institutional reputation. Build relationships with alumni, boosters, and local communities to support program visibility and sustainability.

Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in sports administration, education, business administration or related field is preferred.
Experience/Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in college-level coaching and/or athletic administration or related areas, preferably at the NCAA Division III level.
Proven track record in fundraising, with demonstrated success in securing donations and sponsorships.
Strong knowledge of NCAA compliance, Title IX regulations, and risk management in athletics.
Ability to foster inclusive environments and integrate athletics into campus life.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet physical demands of the role.
