Position Summary:
The Director of Asset and Revenue Accounting will provide strategic direction and operational guidance to fulfill reporting requirements for Property Accounting, Lease Accounting, Truck Leasing and Revenue Accounting:
Property Accounting includes the development, acquisition and maintenance of asset records on behalf of Sysco for North American companies.
Lease Accounting includes the Sysco Global Center of Excellence for Leasing and will serve a critical governance role as a subject matter expert for lease accounting under ASC 842 (including Europe that will support lease accounting under IFRS 16.)
Revenue Accounting includes the review of complex contracts to ensure technical accounting guidance under ASC606 is being embedded in the accounting operational processes
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day management and development of resources at SBS, virtual Global COE and Global offshore. Responsible for providing guidance and support in resolving escalated issues and other complex accounting activitiesSignificant interaction with the Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Market Finance, International Finance and Sourcing teams, as well as the Treasury, Legal, Real Estate and Fixed Assets departments.Critical governance role as a subject matter expert for property accounting, lease accounting, and revenue accountingOversee property additions through direct purchases, monitor CIP, unitizations of assets, transfers and retirements of assets. This will include reporting for GAAP and Tax purposes.Oversee the completion of and is responsible for the approval of their respective account reconciliations. They will maintain tax books for assets throughout the year and provide tax reports and schedules as requiredOversee the LCOE accounting/abstraction staff and lease accounting software, SOX risk compliance and accurate financial reporting, collaboration with Sysco’s North American finance leaders and accounting teams to action appropriate accounting treatment for asset and lease, researching applicable accounting guidance when complex lease accounting matters arise, and coordination of the lease vs buy decision making process.Implement global accounting policies and evaluate internal control procedures over property, lease, and revenue accounting Act as a business partner on behalf of the Shared Business Services center to various departments, including Procurement and IT in order to identify and implement improvements Ensuring organizational compliance with lease accounting guidelines and internal lease accounting policies and procedures under ASC 842 and IFRS 16 as well as revenue recognition under ACS 606Provide supporting schedules and reports for Tax complianceAct as a liaison for the Market Finance on in scope activitiesDeliver insights to Senior Management and Strategic Sourcing through analytics and comparisons to forecastPrimary point of contact for internal and external audit inquiresPartners with key stakeholders to provide all relevant information (Tax, Operating Sites, Treasury, FP&A, Real Estate, Sales, Internal Audit & Controls)Oversee the fleet relationship between the Sysco fleet leasing company and the individual operating companies.QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA requiredExperience:
7-10+ years of experience; Public accounting experience a plus.Experience with Costar Real Estate Manager, Smartstream (GEAC), BPC, and Workday is preferred.Skills:
