Director of Accounting
Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Accounting to lead our client's accounting operations in Dallas, Texas. In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, month end close, bank reporting and the management of a skilled accounting team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and transparency in financial processes. Responsibilities: • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements for internal and external stakeholders, including lenders, investors, and auditors. • Conduct technical research to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to streamline operations and ensure consistency. • Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance on special projects and ad hoc reporting. • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process and assist in preparing audit schedules. • Ensure uniform accounting practices across multiple business entities within the organization. • Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls, and company policies. • Analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements. • Address and resolve any accounting-related issues or challenges that arise. • Lead initiatives to enhance accounting systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy. Requirements • A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, including managerial roles. • At least 2-3+ years of experience in public accounting or a similar environment. • Proven expertise working in a large, multi-unit organization, preferably in the hospitality or retail industry. • In-depth knowledge of technical accounting principles, including GAAP compliance. • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and presentation skills. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities. • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with a focus on team development and performance management. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
