We are seeking a Director of Natural Gas to establish our Houston Natural Gas Trading and Marketing desk, including hiring traders, originators, and schedulers. This role oversees the management, optimization, and growth of our US natural gas business through both short- and long-term commercial strategies.

What you will do:

Commercial Earnings & Growth

Lead and develop a Natural Gas commercial team in Houston responsible for the short- and long-term execution of new lines of business including producer services, transportation, storage and other asset-backed initiatives across the United States. The commercial team includes originators and traders, however also responsible for Operations team and analysts.

Develop and execute the Natural Gas strategy to capture intrinsic and extrinsic value within the portfolio of assets.  This includes oversight into the negotiation of storage and transport and other commercial deals. 

Business development initiatives focused on creating and growing new lines of business in new market areas and delivery of services to Tidal’s customers and business partners.

Manage new commercial proposals including margin and economic analysis, contract development and negotiation, preparing presentations for Enbridge Senior Management and/or Board of Directors

Manage the risk associated with the portfolio of assets and ensure risk policy is adhered to at all times

Optimize the synergies between the natrual gas desks in Houston and Calgary to enhance value for current and future earnings

Building & Maintaining Strategic Relationships

Development and maintenance of a diverse customer base, fostering relationships with key market players including producers, utilities, power companies, storage operators, pipelines, other marketers and traders.

Development of robust working relationships with internal groups including Risk, Contracts, Legal, Credit and Accounting to ensure a smooth flow of information, to assist with the efficient and effective operations of the business.

Work closely with all areas of the company to ensure corporate strategies are communicated, aligned and supportive of overall company growth

Who you are:

Required: 

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business

Minimum 15+ years’ progressive experience in the energy marketing industry

Significant specialized experience in commodity marketing with emphasis on Marketing and Trading

Effective interpersonal and communication skills to promote ideas both for internal and external stakeholders

Highly motivated and energetic self-starter with a strong customer focus

Preferred:

 Bachelor’s degree in business (Commerce) or Economics

Working Conditions:

Office environment

Travel will be in Canada and the US requiring a valid passport
