**The Role:**
The **Director of IT – AI Strategy & Enterprise Data** is a newly established strategic leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role is accountable for defining and executing Xylem’s enterprise data strategy, overseeing data products and platforms, and ensuring alignment with the organization’s AI initiatives.
In this role, you will work closely with business and technology stakeholders, particularly Cornerstone system owners, to define and implement processes that enable deployment of AI agents, tools, and data into the enterprise Data Lake—making them readily available for consumption across the organization.
**Background:**
Xylem’s AI and Advanced Analytics strategies leverage both structured data (from enterprise Cornerstone systems) and unstructured data (from Operational Technology sources such as plant/shop floors, engineering test systems, and customer-monitoring digital platforms).
Our enterprise Data Lake, built on Databricks, serves as the central platform for storing, securing, and managing both structured and unstructured data.
**Core Responsibilities:**
+ Define and execute Xylem’s enterprise data strategy, architecture, and data model to support AI and advanced analytics across the organization.
+ Lead the integration of data platforms with AI initiatives, ensuring cohesive deployment of AI agents, co-pilots, and LLMs across enterprise and operational systems.
+ Manage the enterprise Data Lake platform (Databricks), ensuring secure, governed, scalable, and policy-compliant access to structured and unstructured data.
+ Drive data governance by sponsoring and leading the Data Governance & Analytics Council (DGAC), aligning data use cases and roadmaps across enterprise process areas.
+ Oversee the development of enterprise analytics tools and dashboards to support centralized reporting and enable self-service data access.
+ Manage strategic vendor relationships (e.g., Databricks) to align platform capabilities with Xylem’s evolving AI and data strategy.
Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of data architecture, AI integration, and enterprise data governance. You will play a critical role in shaping Xylem’s data-driven future.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
+ 10+ years in data architecture, enterprise analytics, or AI-related leadership roles.
+ Demonstrated success in driving AI and data transformation in a large, global enterprise.
+ Strong understanding of data governance, architecture frameworks, and emerging AI technologies.
+ Proven ability to align technology with business strategy, influence cross-functional teams, and communicate at the executive level.
+ Experience managing external strategic partnerships (e.g., Databricks).
