Responsibilities

This role is charged with comprehensive long-term planning in innovation and technology selection for the Sterile Processing Department, as well as the continuous evaluation of solution effectiveness. Responsibilities include managing issue resolution within designated areas and ensuring all decisions are consistent with the missions, visions, and objectives of both the institution and department. The position oversees the acquisition, maintenance, and installation of targeted innovations and technological solutions, alongside the assessment of processing equipment, portable patient care equipment, and storage area compliance. 

Accountability extends to maintaining departmental adherence to accreditation standards related to equipment. A systems analysis methodology is applied to maximize solution efficiency, utilizing tools such as equipment tracking, management information systems, maintenance logs, quality assurance programs, and strategies for ongoing improvement. The role establishes multidisciplinary committees to facilitate collaborative resource management reviews and engages resource users in cost reduction initiatives. Interaction with vendors and participation in organizational committees and workgroups are required as needed. This position also encompasses 24-hour operational oversight for assigned areas. 



Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience would be equal to eight years of service in Sterile Processing Management role and/or Central Services Industry or other fields of Automation implementation. Four years as a manager with progressive management experience and budget accountability are required. Experience in vendor negotiation and contract management. Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work with many communication styles. Demonstrated proposal and project management experience. Continuous improvement project experience. High self-initiative. Excellent audiovisual and verbal presentation skills. Proficiency in basic computer skills (word processing, E-mail, Excel, etc.) Knowledge of sterilization/disinfection processes and standards. Previous successful management experience as a leader with Automation and/or Equipment evaluation/selection or a large department for annual plan responsibility which includes departmental goal setting and strategic planning is preferred. Masters degree preferred.
