**Job Description**
This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering at BAE Systems, Inc. - Space & Mission Systems (SMS).
Lead a multi-discipline engineering organization consisting of Software Engineers, Software Systems Engineers, Project Engineers, and Ground Systems Engineers (to include the entire SEIT lifecycle). Lead the organization with functional responsibilities for the entire organization and execution responsibilities to meet program and product commitments over all phases of the lifecycle.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. **What You ll Do:**
+ Develop and execute a comprehensive software capability strategy that supports the company's growth and profitability goals.
+ Guide the development of the technology roadmap and KPI/metric reports required to drive the performance of the software team.
+ Provide vision and leadership to department employees and ensure employees are trained and developed and are engaged in performing their duties and responsibilities to the highest levels of performance.
+ Lead a team of managers overseeing software and ground systems development organizations, responsible for personnel management, software solution design & development, and program & product lifecycle management.
+ Drive software engineering planning and execution to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives across all Strategic Business Units (SBUs).
+ Manage software development in response to business needs, supporting SBU capture plans, proposal activities, and customer relationships.
+ Oversee software planning, design, development, implementation, verification, and testing for space, air, and ground applications.
+ Conduct performance assessments, personnel actions, and support talent management, training, certifications, and compliance.
+ Engage with SBU and Strategic Capabilities Unit (SCU) leaders, providing information to stakeholders and contributing to strategic planning.
+ Provide leadership, technical guidance, and direction across the SGS product and program portfolio.
+ Lead the engineering execution of the software development portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives and company standards.
+ Provide strategic direction and leadership to software engineering teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
+ Ensure adequate staffing, tools, and processes to support successful GSS portfolio execution.
+ Develop and communicate standard processes, procedures, and metrics to drive efficient engineering execution.
+ Meet SCU financial and budgetary objectives, and advocate for business needs.
+ Understand and address current and forecasted engineering staffing needs.
+ Promote collaboration with Talent Acquisition and other disciplines to meet staffing objectives.
+ Prioritize and address technical anomalies, issues, and concerns, ensuring timely and effective end-user support.
+ Enhance execution in support of programs, identifying subject matter expertise to develop solutions, manage risks and drive success.
+ Support the needs of the Engineering leadership team:
+ Participate in strategic planning for Engineering initiatives.
+ Support and collaborate with other Engineering leaders in meeting the business and SCU objectives.
+ Ensure business is conducted with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
+ Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
+ Perform other duties as necessary.
**On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **four days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
**Working Conditions:**
+ Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
**Short-Term Incentive:** Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
+ Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
+ A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
+ High level of leadership and management skills to set direction, create goals in alignment with business requirements and timelines, prioritize operational and project tasks, and enforce accountability.
+ Must have demonstrated ability to identify talent, give sufficient autonomy and accountability, and build a highly functioning engineering team.

**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $173023 - $294137
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
