What is the opportunity?
The GRC Director is a key strategic role within the Governance, Risk and Control unit responsible for overseeing, coordinating and operationalizing the review & challenge as well as quality assurance processes supporting regulatory matter remediation and evidencing. In this role you will be accountable for setting standards for documentation and packaging of remediation artifacts and evidence for regulatory issues. Performing independent and objective quality assurance evaluations of issue closure documentation during critical points along the remediation lifecycle. Support the Regulatory Compliance unit and the Issue Owners in ensuring effective and sustainable closure of issues raised by Regulators and/or Internal Audit

Foster strong stakeholder relationships to enable active and collaborative working relationshipsDrive a culture of integrity and behaviors that align to RBC’s Code of Conduct and professional standardsWork collaboratively across teams, enabling an engaged workforce who are effective, knowledgeable and adaptableSupport a high-performance environment by fostering an inclusive work environment, mentoring/coaching staff members, and enabling opportunities for colleagues achieve development goalsLead the implementation and execution of GRC’s Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance program and practicesLead the GRC team to provide independent review and challenge of issue responsibility, action plans and closure sustainability related to Regulatory and Internal Audit Issues raisedDefine, implement and continuously improve an enhanced operating model for Issue closure package quality assurance reviews which meet Internal Audit and regulatory expectationsLead the GRC team to execute upon quality assurance reviews of Issue remediation artifacts, including reviewing evidence for accuracy, completeness and thoroughness prior to validationResponsible for developing and implementing the end-to-end process and procedures for quality assurance review of issue closure packages including regulatory deliverables as well as related ReportingWhat do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
Graduate degree or equivalent experience. Designation associated with Risk ManagementExperience in risk management, strong demonstrated knowledge of banking regulatory requirements and best practices related to risk management practices globally Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, quality control roles, or other complimentary capacities, preferably within the financial services industry, or with a financial institutions regulatorProven effectiveness in managing a team and/or leading complex projectsExperience working in a matrixed environment actively managing a diverse group of stakeholdersDepth or breadth of risk management experience (1LOD or 2LOD)What’s in it for you?
