The Director, Expedited is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the strategy that powers our most time‑sensitive transportation solutions, including expedited ground, air freight, and high‑value shipments.
As the single‑threaded leader for expedited services, you will own the end‑to‑end performance of the portfolio, driving material growth, operational excellence, and innovation through our lean operating model. You will lead customer and carrier go‑to‑market strategies, solution design, product evolution, and business development, ensuring C.H. Robinson consistently delivers reliability, scale, and differentiation in the expedited market.
As the Director, you will partner closely with revenue management, commercial, and shared services teams to optimize coverage and performance across expedited truckload and LTL. Serving as a strong advocate for the carrier community, you will build and expand strategic partnerships that enable flawless execution for time‑critical freight.
In collaboration with product, science, and analytics teams, you will help define the technology and capability roadmap, translating strategy into scalable, data‑driven solutions. Working alongside the Vice President, NAST Committed Assets, you will own financial forecasting, P&L outcomes, and performance accountability across the expedited portfolio.

Responsibilities:Set and execute the Expedited Transportation strategy, owning growth objectives, competitive positioning, innovation roadmap, and operating model design to drive scale, efficiency, and industry leadershipLead cross‑functional alignment and execution across Commercial, Capacity, Operations, Product, Tech, Shared Services, and NAST to drive demand generation, leverage AI and analytics, improve lead‑to‑cash performance, and successfully launch new and existing expedited offeringsOwn full financial accountability for the expedited portfolio, including P&L performance, budgeting, revenue and expense management, financial forecasting, and reporting to NAST senior leadership on results, drivers, risks, and opportunitiesShape customer and carrier go‑to‑market strategies, serving as an executive representative to top shipper and carrier partners, strengthening expedited carrier networks, and evolving value propositions across freight cyclesDrive product, capability, and investment decisions, evaluating build vs. buy opportunities, partnering with Corporate Development and Competitive Intelligence, and prioritizing capital allocation to accelerate growth and differentiationLead sales enablement, marketing, and external positioning for expedited services, ensuring strong network education, brand presence, and commercial readinessProvide enterprise‑level leadership to teams, setting clear priorities, monitoring performance and delivery, removing obstacles, and embedding agile ways of working and continuous improvementDevelop and coach talent, delivering ongoing feedback, mentoring emerging leaders, addressing skill gaps, and supporting performance management and long‑term career development
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or universityMinimum 10 years of professional leadership experience in areas of transportation brokerage and/or expedite Minimum 8 years of direct people management experience Ability to travel up to 50%
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree from an accredited college or universityExperience in managing a P&L in an entrepreneurial or autonomous business environment.Skilled at building and leading national teamsStrong sense of executive presenceStrong empathy for customers and carriers and a passion for revenue growthStrong knowledge of the 3PL and asset marketplaceStrong business and financial acumen, strategic thinking capability, ability to lift 1000 lbs. Compensation Range
$168,600.00 - $391,400.00The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by work location, which takes into account geographic cost of labor, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base pay only and do not include additional variable compensation.
