Director Event Technology

Job Summary

The Director Event Technology will establish the systems, process and infrastructure for a portfolio of world-class events. Responsible for managing the event technology stack for large-scale in-person, hybrid, and/or virtual events including the flagship user conference, sales and service leadership meetings, executive advisory councils, incentive trips and field marketing activations. This role will have direct responsibility to architect the event technology ecosystem and drive innovation across event experiences and will be tasked with scaling operational excellence, streamlining processes, and increasing business value.

This role involves collaboration with various departments, including Marketing, IT, Creative Services, GSO, Procurement, and others, to ensure technologies align with company standards and deliver seamless experiences for attendees, speakers, stakeholders, and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development:

Collaborate with the Events and Procurement teams to identify areas within event planning, operations, and execution that could benefit from enhancements and efficiencies through event technology. Leverage knowledge and experience of event tech products and solutions to design a strategy specifying the ideal organizational tech stack, aimed at transforming global events from their current state to the desired future state. Drive long-term planning, forecasting, and process innovation using event technology data across all major programs. Conduct ROI analysis.

Vender and Supplier Management:

Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to create statements of work (SOWs) and negotiate contracts. Oversee project management for agencies/professional services to ensure compliance with the agreed SOW. Manage and monitor budget lines related to event technology. Ensure bugs are documented and reported, while tracking requests for critical new functionalities or features.

Event Technology Requirements Mapping:

Capture event requirements from stakeholders translating them into executable features and functionality. Assess and provide guidance on functionality feasibility, budget implications, and required resources, ensuring that technology features, constraints, etc., are understood by planners/teams Stay updated on existing roadmaps, new products, and industry trends. Identify, evaluate, pilot, and recommend new technologies and tools as necessary Develop and maintain event operations playbooks, documentation, and post-event debriefs for continuous improvement.  Roll out registration and mobile app program for use by auxiliary planners throughout the organization  Collaborate with Creative Services teams to ensure digital assets meet latest brand guidelines

Security & Compliance:

Partner with IT and Marketing Operations to ensure seamless system integration, secure data flows, and ensure governance / compliance with security initiatives.  Define and implement standards for attendee experience, accessibility, data privacy, and compliance Evaluate security and data compliance for proposed new tools, systems, and platforms

Technology Platform and On-Site Execution:

Plan, manage, and deliver all facets of the registration and platform delivery process (online and onsite) for team events. Collaborate with support teams to build, test, and deploy registration pages, event resources, logistics integrations, and attendee engagement tools (e.g., mobile applications). Assist event teams with creating, targeting, and delivering email campaigns and event-related notifications and messages. Plan and manage on-site registration and logistics, including attendee credential design and operations for large event engagements. Identify, secure, and coordinate necessary on-site equipment and staff.

Reporting & Metrics:

Work with event teams and stakeholders to identify data requirements before, during, and after events, build reporting capabilities, conduct data audits, and provide metrics and analytics.

Qualifications:

A college degree is nice to have but not required. What’s more important is having the skills to do the job.  Other forms of acceptable experience include: 10 years of professional work experience in events planning and event technology. Expert knowledge of in-person and online event registration and delivery platforms, event management software, virtual event platforms, and other event-related technologies. Familiar with data analytics and measurement tools including Gainsight, Tableau, Google, Vivastream. Tech Stack knowledge including CVENT (And all its products), Mobile Apps including Event Kaddy, Attendee Hub; Rainfocus and Swoogo knowledge a plus. Knowledge of CRM Integrations with Salesforce, Eloqua and Siebel. Familiar with streaming and Hybrid production including Zoom, Notified, ON24, etc. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs. Excellent project management and organizational abilities to thrive in a fast paced, consensus-driven environment. Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is USD $98,000.00 - USD $198,800.00 / Year*
